This grip has been a life-saver on the job. I pack it with Panasonic´s Eneloop rechargeable batteries (also highly recommended) and combined with the battery in the D500 the battery life with this grip lasted me a solid 9 hours (roughly 1500-2000 snaps). I even had some battery left at the end of the night.
If you´re going to be using the D500 for any period of time longer than 2 hours at a time, I highly suggest you grab this battery grip. It also has the plus side of making the camera more stable in-hand. I´m one of those guys that feels more secure the heavier the item is and this gives that sense of security.

Hello everyone,
I´ve owned a D3200, D3, D4, D4S, D5, than I thought the price was indecent so I sold my D5 and bought the D500
Very pleased with it!
But god, the battery grip at such an indecent price it is ridiculous!
Even if it´s a great grip we should never encourage prices like that, it´s simply indecent!
Understand that if you bought the small light D500 camera you want to keep it that way

In addition to making vertical images much easier to shoot, and in addition to powering your Nikon D500 camera body with a second battery, many people do not know that you can insert Nikon´s most powerful battery, the EN-EL18 or EN-EL18a, into the MB-D17 Multi Battery Power Pack for maximum power and maximum number of exposures on a charge. All you need to insert this battery into this vertical grip is an optional Nikon BL-5 battery chamber cover.

This is the third Nikon vertical grip I´ve owned, and this one is perfect. It fits solidly on my camera, and the control action is the same as what is on the body. The only negative, in my opinion, is the firmware (NOT hardware) functionality of the FN button (I´ve already covered this in my D500 review).
