locks on tight and have had one on 18-200 lens for 14 years and dragged it everywhere and have not lost it.

Lens cap releases easily. It´s good because it comes off in no time at all BUT it´s bad because it just comes off as easily even if you don´t want to take it off. I bought my camera 3 days before I went on vacation and lost the lens cap the 2nd day of my vacation. Had the camera hanging over my neck. When it was time to take pictures, lens cap was gone. For the price to replace it, I think there should be a safety hookup to the camera so it´s not lost so easily. Had to carry the camera in the camera case for the rest of my vacation and that wasn´t convenient. By the time you take the camera from the bag, you´ve already missed a good photo opportunity. I´m so disappointed. The camera is great though.
