NikonD850 - More than I expected in every way

    Posted by Follow4legs on June 18, 2018

The D850 is more than I expected in a new camera body - the image quality especially in low light is clean and sharp, the high definition video is good enough to edit with footage shot on high end video cameras. The slow motion video function is amazing. And the ease of downloading to my ipad to review on site with clients - or send low resolution versions to their email or messenger accounts is a time saver in all ways. I had an opportunity to use the adjustable viewer this winter while videotaping a foal being born -- on my old camera I would have had to lie down in the straw bedding to get the the best angle for capturing the labor, birth and first moments of life. With the adjustable viewer, I could look down at the screen and lower the camera to the mare and foal together, and be able to move around more easily.
I also upgraded my flash to a SB5000, and with the camera´s better low light capabilities, and the flashes additional coverage and rapid refresh rate I´ve been very happy working indoors in the winter months when the available light is non-existent.

    D850 Awesome Purchase!

Posted by JakeJacobs on June 18, 2018

I have been a long time Nikon Shooter and the D850 is a Giant leap forward, the build quality is great, the resolution, the look, the feel and performance I feel is second to none! I could not be more please with the purchase/investment, so much so I have purchase a 2nd D850 as well as a pair of MB-D18´s as well.

This by far, as for camera´s is my most favorite investments. Over the years, I have own bodies such as the D200, D2xs, D300, D3, D700 D3x and now a pair of the D850´s and I cannot keep them out of my hands. Nikon did not just hit a Home Run with me, it was a Grand Slam! I find the image quality is excellent the quality of high ISO is very good and it metering and color excellent. So far I have no improvements to recommend, I think the camera is just that Good!

    Made my day!

Posted by TexasBill on June 18, 2018

I shoot humming birds in flight, which takes some doing, and this camera gives me 8.5X11 inch prints that look like portraits. I had a D-3 and this D 850 is a mega step up. Colors, resolution, dynamic range, live view, focus stacking, blue tooth, frame rate, auto focus speed, so many features I can´t even count them.
It is a photographer´s camera for sure.

    Worth the Hype

Posted by TimTorchiaPhoto on June 18, 2018

After owning the D500 and the D750 at the same time, both great cameras I simply wanted one camera that could do both. I primarily shoot action but really love chasing light and taking landscapes. After hearing all the feedback initially I knew this camera could handle both, especially with the grip that bumps up the FPS. So I made the move and couldn´t be more pleased with my photos so far.

The focusing system is super fast, the ISO in low light is insane and the image quality along with the color in the raw files is superb! I´ve also had the opportunity to shoot it in a crop mode while capturing some hawks. It´s basically like having a D500 inside of it. There are so many other features that I haven´t even explored yet, but will in do time. If you want to take your photography to the next level then this is camera for you..

    Outstanding

Posted by papiamento on June 18, 2018

Bought the 850 just prior to a planned Safari to India. Camera performed flawlessly with a variety of lenses including 24-70, 70-200 and 200-400 (all Nikon). Image quality is exceptional.
    Can´t recommend more highly.

    All about fun!

Posted by dogidog on June 18, 2018

This review is for people who love photography but aren´t pros, they don´t need my opinion. I´ve been shooting since Polaroid, black and white and 35mm. Don´t know how many cameras I´ve owned. I´m having more fun with this camera than any camera ever! Is there anything it can´t do? When I look at photos I´ve taken over the past 30 years and compare them to what I´m taking now, it makes me look good. It excels at indoor and low light photos which look as good as when the conditions are excellent. A lot of money for a non pro but no regrets here.

    Stunning images!!!

Posted by Anonymous on June 18, 2018

I´ve been with Nikon since the all manual Nikon FM (great film camera). This is THE BEST Nikon yet. As usual, the ergonomics are there, the camera feels and IS solid. Controls are well thought out and in the right places. I´ve used my D850 in all kinds of bad weather... it sprinkled at Big Sur before I was able to get my rain cover, snowed in Yosemite and froze in windy Astoria, Oregon. The D850 performed flawlessly throughout all. Returning home I pulled up my images on my 27´´ iMac. STUNNING!!!! Months later, I still look at my images in disbelief. The D850 is not for everyone, I suggest you be committed to studying the instructions carefully. This camera is packed with every feature I can conceive. Secondly, use really good Nikkor glass. You won´t be disappointed.
