    Even better than I thought

From the beginning, I was able to get fantastic pictures. As I learned about the various controls, I have found how how much fun this hobby is.

Everything you need in one great camera

Posted by Cameron on October 21, 2018

This camera contains both video/audio and still photography in a lightweight, easy to use, quality camera. Being able to use one camera for an event was great. I was able to switch between getting video and stills with ease. I could even take pictures while in video mode, although the ratio is the ratio of the video and not your standard still shot. Getting the camera setup was a breeze. The touch interface makes getting around in the settings very easy. I am looking forward to many great years with the D850.

    Upgraded from D750

Posted by Jotaele on October 21, 2018

I had the D750 for about 3 years and many thousands of pictures, but I fell in love with the capabilities of the D850 and i traded up. No regrets so far. It is a true upgrade from the D750, not just cosmetic. Better ability to focus in low light situations, many more pixels to be able to crop your pictures as needed. Same lens mount so you can use all of your current lenses. No more losing the eyepiece as was the case with the D750. The design is similar to the D500 which I also own, so it is basically seamless to switch from one camera to the other as needed when shooting.

Th D850 is the best camera I´ve ever owned!

Posted by JiLi on October 16, 2018

Absolutely fantastic camera in every way. It is like Nikon took all the complaints and feedback on the D750 and D810 and came up with the D850. Everything is perfectly where you want it. And the features like focus stacking and a highlighted-weighted feature which blows my mind. I was considering to spend my money on the new mirrorless Z7, but I´m glad I decided to get the D850 now, which of course I can use all my same lenses from my D750. Nikon really made the mark with this camera. Its definitely the pro camera I´ve been waiting for. Love it so much!

    Decisiveness = Confidence

Posted by Hooch on October 5, 2018

I´ve been shooting commercially for nearly 30 years. I´ve always bought the photo tools that allow me to work efficiently and confidently. Unreliable gear leads to inefficiency and distraction. After my 4x5 film days ended I transitioned to medium format digital then DSLR. SLR/DSLR has always been Nikon. No Nikon has ever gotten in my way and created concern. As each model was released I´d buy it. Started with the D2X, then D3, D800, D810 and currently the D850. The D850´s AF capability is much improved over the D810 so when I start to shoot I now virtually never worry about AF hit rate; I just hit the AF On button (I back button focus almost always) and shoot. The AF acquisition so decisive... frame after frame of client pleasing photos. I shoot tethered about 90% of the time and now I´m more confident than I´ve ever been that what the client sees will be as good as it gets. I can´t imagine a camera being better. Oh! Don´t forget image quality! Clients love the quality and file size. Too big? Never! Clients now require one photo to be cropped for many end uses; the D850 can handle it. We´ll see what Nikon comes up with next. Not sure how they´ll beat the D850.

    Feels like an old friend

    Posted by NatuRaOx2 on October 2, 2018

One of the best things about Nikon DSLRs is the comfortable feel and repeating button layout. I have the d810,d500 and d850 . Having the buttons in the same place every time is such a must for me. The iso button change from the d810 to the d500 and 850 messes me up at times when going fast shooting video on a tall tripod . Many times I liked the iso where it was and not so close to the video record button. When in a hurry and the iso button is hit instead of the record has cost me some video footage. Not good for a paying gig. But I´m used to that now and am actually liking the new button layout.
Now on to the limited one month use of the d850. Im not a landscape shooter per say. But I had a wedding in Colorado to go to . I´m from Illinois by the way. While out there I thought I´d give the d850 (KING) of landscape camera a go. All I can say is wow! I love the true to life colors from this camera and the dynamic range . With minimal amounts of editing the pictures just popped off the screen. I´m sure I´d be able to do the same with the wonderful d810 also but never tried it out. Im a professional live music photographer and videographer. So I don´t get a chance to shoot much nature photography that I love .
As soon as I got back to Illinois I had a live music video to shoot with all three cameras. The d850 coupled with the Nikkor 70-200 e fl vr had beautiful video footage. The very next day I had an album cover shoot . I also shot mostly with the Nikkor 70-200. What gorgeous photos. Like I said it seems like the colors are different than the d810. More true to life to me . The d810 has a more saturated look to the photos to me and I desaturated quite a bit in post with live music photos. I haven´t shot live music stills yet with this new d850 but cannot wait.
Thanks Nikon for such a great dslr. I´m not digging the new mirrorless cameras you just came out with . I started to preorder the Z7. Changed my mind when it didn´t have dual card slots and the grip isn´t going to be a fully functional grip. A few other things stopped me also. Dial in the cameras to have almost the same button layout also as the DSLRs. You will pull in all the Nikon loyalists and many many new customers.
I purchased the d850 over the Z7 just for the fact of instant usability for work. Professional photographers need fast hard working tools. We can´t be fumbling around in front of our clients. And we cannot be missing the oh so important moments they demand of us at a shoot. Please make it so both lines of cameras work synonymously together.
Thanks Nikon and please listen to your users .

    simply the best!

Posted by Joelcom on September 25, 2018

Great camera. The best I ever had. I took D850 to Dominican Republic to explore different places of the country, and it amazing! the low light its crazy and battery last for a long time. view finder is great. Most of the time, you don´t need a flash, the low light setting is amazing . I set it with my table via SnapBrige and automatic download all the picture to my table super fast, great feature if you need to see more detail on a larger screen. Actually, the pictures on the camera LCD screen it looks better than my computer screen. Highly recommend this product for serious photographers
