    D5600 - Everything I expected and more!

Posted by tminn on January 28, 2019

I bought the D5600 as my first DSLR in the standard Nikon 2 lens kit. My wife and I travel extensively and I have been taking pictures with point-and-shoot cameras or borrowing my daughters D7200. I wanted a camera that had advanced features but was not overly complex since this is MY first DSLR.I received the camera a few days before we left for a 2 week pilgrimage to Israel. I brought myself up to speed on the functions of the camera and was extremely pleased with the performance of the camera on our trip and the ease of use.
I have had the camera for less than a month, but took nearly 3000 pictures on my pilgrimage, so I can tell you that it was fun to have this camera with me since it was VERY easy to use and I am very pleased with the results of the pictures. I only carried the 2 lenses that came in the kit and mostly used the 18-55

My attached photos were taken in automatic/no flash mode

    Pros:
    1) In automatic mode, the speed in which the camera focuses and responds is remarkable
    2) Low light picture capture without flash is amazing and extremely accurate. I experienced no delays in focusing far or near in low light and quickly capturing a clear image
    3) SnapBridge app phone control. The SnapBridge app gives you easier control in manual modes and provides a seamless transfer of photos to phone for sharing and storing in the cloud
    4) lightweight body that still feels solid
    5) the display is a great size and the rotational capabilities are wonderful for movie making and taking pictures when the camera is positioned away from your face.
    6) Video capture is exceptional

    Cons:
    1) keeping the camera connected to your phone greatly decreases the battery charge on the camera and your phone. If you chose to leave them connected, be sure to have a charger for your phone as well as spare batteries charged for the camera

Great camera at a very nice price

Posted by JMiller on January 22, 2019

This is really a great purchase and a very nice camera that is giving me excellent results. I can´t wait to add a couple of prime lenses to get even more enjoyment. The only knock I can even think of right now is that the continuous shooting button around on the front of the camera by the lens mount is tough to find by feel. It´s flush with the surface and very small so I find myself having to look around the front to locate it, which is a bit of a nuisance when I have it set up on a tripod and don´t want to swivel the camera around. Small issue though. I love the camera, and I can say my skills would have to drastically improve before I would feel the need to plop down more money (in most cases a LOT more money) for a full frame or other high end camera. This one really can deliver professional level photos.

    Beginners Camera

Posted by EscapeYoung on December 28, 2018

Well let me apologize for the title because I´m the beginner but this camera makes me feel like a professional. I´ve never had a camera before but so far everyone thinks differently. Give me a few more months when I understand the aperture, IS and the other thing better to I can take even better photos and I will be writing back again

    Great learning camera.

Posted by Derek on December 19, 2018

I have always wanted to step up my photography game with a ´´real´´ camera. The D5600 is a great tool to learn with. It is priced right and easy to use, yet it is still respectable enough that you can search for it on YouTube and see it in the hands of professionals. Day one I switched away from Auto and the in-camera menus help to explain the features. I did good!

Pictures are vivid. Didn´t have time to practice with the camera before my vacations this year. Good thing it was easy to use right out of the box. Extremely pleased!!!

    Easy To Use

Posted by Chummie on December 10, 2018

I bought this camera to take better shots at Thanksgiving since we were having an extended family gathering. Since I´m quite new to the camera I found it easy to get around on and start taking good pictures. I leaned on the automatic controls at first and was able to get nice results quickly. Since Thanksgiving, I´m beginning to learn more about the other controls and look forward to taking even better photographs.

    Upgrade from D5100

Posted by RonS on December 1, 2018

I upgraded from a D5100 to take advantage of connectivity through WiFi or Bluetooth. I shot wildlife and sunsets and the D5600 nails it. I was using an iPhone to get stuff posted quickly and easily, not any more. I was frustrated because the phone missed so much of what I was seeing. My new D5600 nails each shot with very little effort.

    I love Nikon

    Posted by Amp57 on October 27, 2018

I am still learning the Nikon 5600 but what really impresses me is the great features the camera has. The pictures are of the highest quality. I really love the 300mm lens that came with. I love the wireless system. The camera fits nicely in my hand and is very easy to handle and shoot pictures. I Nikon would supply a users manual with the camera and instead of you having to down load it but other than that I love the camera.

Old Nikon user loves this camera.

Posted by Nightrider on October 26, 2018

This is an upgrade and replacement for a existing Nikon digital camera. I have had and used a number of Nikon cameras, both film and digital, over the years. Even though I knew I could easily order a Nikon replacement on-line with confidence, I instead visited several camera shops. Although with my leaning towards Nikon products I still tried out several other brands. However, when I picked-up the D5600 I knew this was going to be the new addition to the camera bag. It felt comfortable, was easy to set up and use. SnapBridge makes transferring photos a breeze. It became clear Nikon has listened to their consumers, the layout of the controls and their functions are intuitive in use. And, in my opinion, the photos are superb. For my money (literally), this was not a mistake.
