    The perfect camera for me!

Posted by DonRoger on April 3, 2019

Before I bought my D5600 I did a lot of research. I´m just an amateur photographer who used SLRs back in the film days but migrated first to point and shoot and then to smart phones. Since I´m retired I wanted to get back to more serious photography and revive my old hobby. I wanted a DSLR that was easy to carry around (small and lightweight). My main uses are vacation and landscape photos along with photos of friends and family at home. And I´m more interested in pictures than video. The D5600 was the perfect choice and a great value for all the features it has at an introductory price. I love the flip screen and use the touch feature a lot. But more than that, I rediscovered the value of a viewfinder, especially on bright, sunny days. I bought two extra lenses, a 35mm prime and a 70-300mm zoom, along with the camera and kit lens. My kit lens is a 18-140mm zoom and it has become my go to lens most of the time. I would highly recommend this lens. It is the perfect combination with the D5600. In summary, the D5600 is an excellent camera that takes beautiful pictures in all kinds of lighting conditions, and has a full range of control from letting the camera make all the decisions to letting the photographer decide some or all of the settings.

    Love the camera

You Tube videoa assisted in setting up basics of camera. Since it captures images with amazing clarity, the Snap Bridge option can be used with confidence to immediately share photos with others.

    Love it

Upgraded from the d3300 to the d5600. So far I am pleased although it does take some getting use to using the touch screen for some adjustments. I was looking at the 5600 or the 7200/7500 but in the end, the size of the 5600 won out over the additional features plus I already had spare batteries for my 3300 and they are the same as in the 5600. The touch screen could be a bit more friendly, I find I have to try and make adjustments a few times because it just isn´t as intuitive as I would like. They should redesign the screen for the next upgraded version.

    What in the brand name?

Posted by Mystic on February 5, 2019

I took a photography class around Christmas,I walked in there proudly with my PandS only to find out that the class was much more detailed. So, I stayed and learned and followed other classmates with their cameras.

After the class I´m now more intrigued with the art of photography, but I have get a better camera. I began to wonder what brand and what style of camera to get(mirror-less or DSLR) I did extensive research. I asked numerous amount of people, I called big cameras stores located on New York, as well as mom and pop venues. I was always advised to get a Nikon DSLR 5600 for your beginner camera. I did just that, and I love this camera, the quality of the camera and pictures that its takes are splendid. When I grow up in the art of photography I will definitely be sticking with Nikon brand. I have my eye on the mirror-less Z6 Nkon camera. .

Thanks Nikon thanks for making affordable beginners cameras and ease of functionality with this brand make learning the art fun. I´m a Nikon customer for life.

Amazing camera and tremendous education available online!

Posted by MargePoc on February 2, 2019

This is my first ever DSLR, and matter of fact, I never had an SLR either. I was nervous about being in over my head and what if I wasn´t able to learn how to use it. But I have been so excited about my D5600 that I have read the owner´s manual and the reference manual at least twice through, watched every video and read every article repeatedly. I am so grateful to Nikon for making this amazing camera and also for making it so that even a beginner can learn to use it and to make great photos. I would definitely recommend this camera to anyone of any skill level.

I can´t wait to add more lenses and accessories. I am going on a photography trip soon, and that´s so exciting.

    Last in a long line

Posted by Dachshund on January 28, 2019

This is my eighth Nikon, starting with an FM, from that point on I was hooked. This my third DSLR.The first was a D40, followed by a D3300 then I bought the D5600. This camera is a logical progression of other two DSLRs, it doesn´t re-invent the wheel, but it adds significant additional features to accompany my learning curve. It was fun to learn about bracketing, HDR etc. The new features are great and I didn´t have to re-learn the entire camera.

    D5600 - Everything I expected and more!

Posted by tminn on January 28, 2019

I bought the D5600 as my first DSLR in the standard Nikon 2 lens kit. My wife and I travel extensively and I have been taking pictures with point-and-shoot cameras or borrowing my daughters D7200. I wanted a camera that had advanced features but was not overly complex since this is MY first DSLR.I received the camera a few days before we left for a 2 week pilgrimage to Israel. I brought myself up to speed on the functions of the camera and was extremely pleased with the performance of the camera on our trip and the ease of use.
I have had the camera for less than a month, but took nearly 3000 pictures on my pilgrimage, so I can tell you that it was fun to have this camera with me since it was VERY easy to use and I am very pleased with the results of the pictures. I only carried the 2 lenses that came in the kit and mostly used the 18-55

My attached photos were taken in automatic/no flash mode

    Pros:
    1) In automatic mode, the speed in which the camera focuses and responds is remarkable
    2) Low light picture capture without flash is amazing and extremely accurate. I experienced no delays in focusing far or near in low light and quickly capturing a clear image
    3) SnapBridge app phone control. The SnapBridge app gives you easier control in manual modes and provides a seamless transfer of photos to phone for sharing and storing in the cloud
    4) lightweight body that still feels solid
    5) the display is a great size and the rotational capabilities are wonderful for movie making and taking pictures when the camera is positioned away from your face.
    6) Video capture is exceptional

    Cons:
    1) keeping the camera connected to your phone greatly decreases the battery charge on the camera and your phone. If you chose to leave them connected, be sure to have a charger for your phone as well as spare batteries charged for the camera
