    One Great Camera

Posted by Thom on June 10, 2018

Yeah the low light performance and the huge buffer are great. I love how fast the camera focuses. But even more I find the power encourages you to explore imaging outside your comfort zone. The biggest con is the mixed media cards. I would prefer either the SD or XQD for both slots.

    I have a twin brother

Posted by NikonGuy on May 27, 2018

For years I used the Nikon D300 and loved every feature it offered. But as the years went by I waited for something new. I bought the Nikon D7100 and the D7200 but they just didn´t have all that I wanted so my D300 once again became my main camera, and the D7200 my backup. When the D500 was released I bought it with the AF-S NIKKOR 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR
, and with a few days the D300 and D7200 went up for sale. The D500 gave me the feel of the D300 with the power of the D500. My brother, which was an avid Canon user, tried the Nikon D500 with the new Nikkor 200-500mm lens and within a few weeks sold his cameras and lens collection and became a Nikon fan. We now look like twins!!!!! Great Camera,,,,Thanks Nikon.

would have be 5 stars until i saw a commentary talking about the same problem i have

Posted by maxchasse on May 5, 2018

hi, as i said, i was about to put a 5 stars review and then i read a commentary saying that the guy had problem with the back focus instead of focusing the right point, very frustrating for me too, cost me a lot of wasted shots, i would like someone from Nikon contacting me regarding that problem as their product of such this quality should not have problems like this, its paired with a lot of diff. objectives, using sb-500 as a flash , so used with great gear like the 200mm-500mm nikkor,

I am a self-taught photographer. Purchasing this camera was a huge step of faith for me and my family. It was a sacrifice financially. It has honestly been one of the best purchases of my life. It helped me take my photography to the next level.

    upgraded from D90

Posted by fishhog on December 8, 2017

I began my DSLR hobby with a D90 and a couple of Nikon zoom lens in 2010. Due to deteriorating eyesight, I needed better AutoFocus. I made a big upgrade to the D500 about 6 months ago. I am very pleased with the speed and accuracy of the D500 AF.
I began by using Moose Peterson´s settings, then made changes as I gained experience. I got Steve Perry´s online AF book and now I use Back Button AF.
I also upgraded my lens to a Tokina AT-X 14-20 F2 PRO DX and a Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR. The D500 works great with both lens. The only negative is the combined weight, but the improved image quality makes it worthwhile to me.

    D500 Surprise

Posted by UTBMac on November 20, 2017

Bought this on a recommendation from a friend. I shoot sports among other subjects and have D3, D4S, and was looking for a new body to retire the D3. A friend showed me sports images he took and I was sure this would be the one for me. As much as I love my D4S the D500 has become my go to camera. Dollar for dollar it stacks up to the big boys.

    A baby D5

Posted by bfletch on November 20, 2017

One of the best cameras I´ve owned! Has everything from the 10 frames a second to 4K video. As a dramatic photographer I love the radio system! I can change the output on the camera right then and there! And the XQD card for faster downloads! I can get to my work faster and back to my my real passion which is behind the camera not the computer and spending time with my family and friends

    Awesome for sports

    Posted by Shooter14 on November 20, 2017

I´ve had the chance to use the D500 for about a month now. I have shot numerous sports both high school and college levels. I have shot in both indoor lighting as well as late season outdoor Friday Night Lights. This has proven to be an incredibly fast and accurate camera in both focus and shooting speed. The only thing I would change about it is to make it a full frame but then it would be a D5 for the most part. I have had a D750 for a year now and find myself reaching for the D500 more often for sports and recently Bald Eagle photos. The sharpness and detail on the eagles is better than I have ever had to date. I can´t imagine anyone being disappointed with this model. I shot a different brand for my entire life and thought I got some good shots with that brand. Nikon takes it to a whole new level.
