Great camera
Posted by Sudhir on December 16, 2017
Nikon B 500 will work wonders with you when you read the manual carefully and experiment with settings. The settings are simple and automatic. Shoot and snap with auto mode. Blur the background and get depth of the focus object with scene mode by using zoom. With night landscape setting get good pictures without flash. Use micro setting for closeups. Be patient when using zoom. You will have to hold your hands steady. The best camera for its price.

Really easy to use for an experienced camera

This camera is really advanced but so easy for a first timer like myself.

Nikon should be ashamed
Posted by Flight Risk Mom on August 21, 2017
My daughter bought this camera to take on our European holiday. It was a disaster from the start. The batteries only lasted half an hour, if that. She was in tears for much of the holiday as she couldn´t take the photos she wanted and I had to lend her my camera. On our return, Nikon´s only advice was to buy more batteries. Just what you want to do, spend your holiday buying batteries or carrying them around. I would NOT recommend this product to anyone.

Nice!
Posted by shuttermama on August 11, 2017
Love the Macro and the Zoom gets great distance! I was worried about the zoom after reading some of the reviews, but I´ve had no issues. I got a photo of my daughter in her kayak, so far out that I couldn´t see her face on my own, but the camera caught her eye colour end even the water droplets on her face! (Sorry, not sharing the image because it´s her face...)
The neck strap is too short, I´m replacing it with the longer one from my old coolpix.
I´m not 100% happy with the presets. The beach and sunset setting seemed to work much better on my old coolpix 8700. -

Almost perfect, great zoom and video
Posted by Omni on May 25, 2017
A great camera in a handsome skin.
Positives- awesome zoom, cool photo transfer to mobile device (although it can be slow), great pictures, multiple ´´modes´´ for varying types of shooting, price, feels great in hand, and great videos.
Negatives- neck strap is too short, when zoomed far away (optical only) it was nearly impossible to get a clear shot at a recent graduation, video mode did just fine. If you´re not technically inclined I would opt for a simpler camera as this one has tons of technical options (bluetooth and wifi specifically). -

Why only in Black in Canada? Elsewhere choice of Red, Plum or Black.

In spite of some of its flaws and shortcomings I would like to try this camera but cannot find it in RED colour in Canada. Almost anywhere else in the world you have choices of Red, Plum or Black.

Unsure of this camera
Posted by Todls on March 24, 2017
I purchased this camera in September 2016 when my Canon PowerShot failed. I chose it based on reviews and YouTube demos. I am considering pitching it. I am not a pro photographer nor an idiot.
When i use the zoom feature on anything farther away I rarely get a clear sharp picture that resembles anything like I see in the demos. For example, this time of year we see many eagles where I live. I can be less than 50 feet from one in a tree. On the screen i will have a hard time seeing the bird as it looks like it is 500 feet away. I have to almost fully zoom in on it to see it, and it is less than 50 feet away, and it comes out not even close to being sharp when I take the picture. I have tried all of the offered settings with the focus, played with the lightness, the vividness setting, etc. I tried various zoom settings. I don´t know what else to do.
Then with indoor shots. The slightest movement by my subject and it is a blur. I tried to take a picture of someone being handed an award a few nights ago. The giver came out okay but the receiver is a complete blur. I played with the party setting, lightness, flash etc and again can not seem to figure out what I do wrong.
I have seen better results by people who use their phone camera than I am getting with this camera. So unless someone can tell me what i do wrong, I would not recommend this camera. -

Extremely Disappointed
Posted by LZB500 on March 5, 2017
This camera was purchased for the WiFi/Bluetooth capabilities. The Snapbridge app won´t connect to the camera meaning that I can´t transfer the pictures to my smartphone. I´ve tried working with Nikon Support to come to a resolution, but they have not been able to find a solution for this issue. I also dislike that this camera uses AA batteries. They drain so quickly and it´s cumbersome to replace them. The door to the battery compartment is not very strong and I´m afraid it´s going to break. I feel like I wasted my money on this camera and I wish I could get a refund or a different camera.

GREAT CAMERA FOR BEGINNERS
Posted by DanieLsVLogs on January 20, 2017
I love this camera, especially since i just started photography. Although I´m still learning how to use it properly i just was to know if there a ring light accessory that i can use for it?
