    Wonderful all around lens

Posted by Haardnox on July 30, 2010

This has turned out to be one of my favorite lenses for getting the DoF I want. It´s a light weight great little lens. Focus is quick and quiet. It´s a must have!

    Outstanding

Posted by BrentT on July 29, 2010

I love this lens! I have it mounted on one of my D700s and it never comes off. I know I´ll get tack sharp images every time and I don´t have to check the LCD to make sure. I just know so I can keep shooting. I photograph a lot of kids and this lens, focused on their eyes, really captures the moment. Buy it!!

    Great Lens

Posted by Sethery on July 29, 2010

I got this lens around December of 2009. Of course, if you´re looking at this lens, you already know how well f/1.4 is going to do in low light, and how nice the dof is. I´ve gotten some amazing shots right out of the camera with this lens. The only thing that was kind of a disappointment was the AF speed. For the price, i feel it should be quicker, but it is accurate.

The lens also feels great in my hands. It´s not like the all metal manual focus lenses i have, but it seems like it can still take a beating.

I would buy it again if it busted

    Terrific lens in museums

Posted by Henry on July 29, 2010

I bought this lens to use in museums where I could not use a flash. While it works beautifully for images of paintings in ordinary lighting conditions, it will even take good pictures of tapestries in rooms where the light in held to a very low level in order to protect the colors. I have used it in the Victoria and Albert in London and at Chateau Ecouen outside Paris, both in rooms so dark that one could not read a newspaper--but I could take a clear image of their tapestries.

    Sharp lens!

    Posted by marksternphoto.com on July 29, 2010

I use this lens mostly for portraits. It is a little pricer than its´ predecessor, but its´ sharpness makes up for that. A prime example of ´´You get what you pay for.´´

    Excellent Fixed Prime Lens

Posted by Mark Stevens on July 29, 2010

I took this lens on a recent trip to a few national parks earlier this summer. I found that I kept this lens on my Nikon D90 almost all the time, only taking it off for wide angle or telephoto photos. The quality of the images with this 50mm were amazing. It forced me to move around to frame the image I wanted. What I captured was amazing. It will remain as my primary lens for a long while.

Chose this lens for its low light and portrait capabilities; has not disappointed!

Often Replaces My 16-85mm at 50mm

Posted by Begemotik on July 29, 2010

While I appreciate the flexibility of my Nikkor 16-85mm f/3.5-5-6 zoom lens, the 50mm f/1.4G has become my new ´´walkaround´´ lens, since most of my history has been taking pictures in the 40-65mm range (on my D300s). I tried the D version of this glass as well as the 35mm f/1.8, and both were excellent, image-wise. The 1.4G, however, is best characterized as ´´outstanding´´ for its middle-priced components.
