This lens is great for macro shots.

This lens is very sharp and clear; great for macro shots. It is lightweight which is important if you have to carry more than one lens.

    Amazing Prime lens for DX

Posted by bradklodowski on August 3, 2010

In a nutshell: If you shoot a DX-format camera and don´t have this lens, get it. It´s wonderful.

I bought this back when I shot with a D60 and wanted a lens for portraiture. I´ve since upgraded to a D90 and this lens still manages to stay on my camera at least 70% of the time. This is an excellent lens - sharp as can be in the center at all apertures, and the corners are excellently sharp at f/2.8 or smaller. I use this lens for everything - portraits, general photography, low-light work, etc. As an added bonus, the fact that it´s a prime lens will make you a much better photographer in terms of thinking about compositions and the like. I would recommend this over a 50mm for DX, 50 is a bit too long of a lens to be versatile on a crop-frame sensor. As

Again, for the price, you simply can´t go wrong with this lens.

    Product Review

For the money, you certainly get a lot out of this lense. Its great for portraits and I also use it for outdoor scenery as well. Even though it is a 35mm lense, you have to move a lot to get what you want due to the narrow view angle. Also, chromatic abberation can be an issue. It becomes prominent when shooting water (or wet/shiny) and chrome objects. Even a circular polarizer did not help. Other than that, its light, fast, affordable and takes great shots.

    Great in low light

Posted by trpshea on August 1, 2010

I needed something to handle low situations and this lense did/does the job. I´ve been adventuring deeper into photography and I am beginning to understand the importance of having good lenses. Shooting inside banquet rooms and churches can be difficult without flash. So, if a flash cannot be used, then you have to have a lense that has an aperture than can be dialed down. This lense will dial down to f1.8. Trust me, that is plenty. Not to mention the fast autofocus it has. I just love it.

    DX Delight

Posted by Cuzzin on August 1, 2010

Gives DX cameras a lens with the same coverage as the standard 50mm on FX. This lens is as good as all of the FX 50mm lens that it emulates. If you are shooting indoors with available light then it is the lens to use. It is as you would expect. excellent low light performance, sharp, and it can focus in near darkness with incredible speed.

    Well made, reliable and cheap.

I was looking for a fast fixed DX lens for my D40 and this was the one. Good quality for the price, excellent performance in low light situation and general portrait at any given day. I like it a lot.

    Good basic prime lens

Posted by annie on August 1, 2010

I am enjoying this lens for it´s speed and for the beautiful depth of field it renders. The results remind me of my first 35mm fixed focal length camera lens.
