    A Gem to Keep Handy

Posted by Trekker on November 3, 2012

Most of my photography is either with the 70-200 2.8VRII, or rather wide with the 12-24. While I have a half-dozen older 24mm and 50mm lenses in my lens rack, their control of CA has not been great, and on the D7000 found I needed to adjust focus. I bought the 40Micro-Nikkor and fell in love with it in its own right. No sign of CA, sharp and contrasty, and just a great lens to work with. I keep finding new uses for this lens, but have come to especially love it when using it as a ´normal´ lens - check out the attached image of our skittish Norwegian Forest Cat. I use it for fast close-ups when I don´t want to use my 105Micro, but mostly it is just that the 40Micro is so fast to work with. It gets the job done, with sensational quality.

    Great All Purpose Lens

    Posted by P229 on September 15, 2012

I purchased this lens recently with a D7000 body instead of the kit lens. I have been using it as a walk around lens and found it to be not so limiting. The image quality is superb. The photos are very sharp. Very nice for portraits as well. Close up shots have great detail. I find it to be sharper and has better contrast than my Nikon 50 1.8 D. I really love this lens as I find it to be versatile enough and very sharp at a good price. Of course it is not as convenient as a zoom lens and macro is limited given the relatively short focal length. I doubt I would have been as happy with the kit lens or the Nikon 35 mm 1.8 G.
P.S. These are down-sampled images much lower quality than original files.

Exceptional, Stunning Detail for Both Close ups and Portraits

Posted by GRAVERAET on September 1, 2012

I HIGHLY recommend this lens. I own the Nikon D7000, which I LOVE. I have been using the lens from the kit 18mm-105mm. I took great photos. But, I was BLOWN AWAY from this 40 mm lens. I was skeptical because it´s only 40mm and I have no range other than 40mm....I am taking the time to write this review because the quality of the photos has shocked me. Everybody from the professional photography realm has told me to put money in good lenses. Everybody should have this lens. Here is why: it took exceptional, stunning detail in photos up close and from far away. It is quite an unique lens that I am becoming obsessed with!

    Great for bug photography

Posted by Pauldd on August 3, 2012

It focuses smaller than the standard 18-55mm lens, plus, being DX format, you can crop a lot, but still end up with a big resolution picture, enough for 8X12 and bigger.

    Excellent Micro Lens

Posted by Benny on July 8, 2012

I like it for it´s compactness. Have used the 60 and the 105. But for traveling it is handy to have a Micro that is small and compact. I like it´s design for the DX format. Another great lens from Nikon.

just bought this lens 2 days ago and I am amazed at what it can do. I like taking pictures of flowers and was looking to get more detail. This has helped me to achieve it.

This is my first Micro-lens and i absolutely love it. Comparing it to the other lenses it much more cheaper and it gets the job done! If you are thinking about taking close-up pictures and want something inexpensive you are looking in the right place. I recommend this lens ! :)

I wanted a lens that would allow me to do close-up and take great portrait pictures at an affordable price. Not at all disappointed.
