Amazing product for the price

A must-have for all photographers. Perfect for indoor and low light. The price to quality comparison can not be beat.

Don´t let the price fool you
Posted by Chuckcars on July 29, 2010
Price too low?? Never mind that. This lens has excellent resolution, clarity, contrast and workmanship. I would suggest every Nikon shooter have one. I use it for aerial assignments and will not go anywhere without it.

Best bang for the $$$$$
Posted by lonely bull on July 29, 2010
I have used this lens on previous Nikon camera´s and now on my D300 as a go anywhere shoot anything lens. Low light to bright sun.I consider the 50-1.8 as a great value for the price, inexpensive yes, but performs admireably.
I like it. -

perfect film lens
Posted by delta2864 on July 29, 2010
one of the best and cheapest film or full frame lens out there.not recommended for DX or D40 type cameras,
on an F100 or F4 it is wonderful
but if you are looking for a fast portrait lens for a entry level Nikon you are honestly looking at the wrong lens.
my suggestion would be check out the ancient
55mm f3.5 pre AI
yes I am serious, manual everything , but the keeper rate will prove me right -

Great little lens
Posted by Cowabunga on July 29, 2010
This lens is sharp at all f-stops, fast, light-weight and affordable. What more needs to be said? If you only can have one lens, this is it.

Goodlow light lens. Small and compact.
Posted by bikerted on July 29, 2010
I gave this lens five stars because I am one of those easy to please kind of guys. I am serious about photography, and have been so for over 30 years. Just about anything works for me, given enough time and patience. I bought this lens for one reason. To take photos in low light with out flash. I have a D90 that works well with this lens. I have had great success with evening shots during twilight hours just after the sun sets. it gives me the freedom to take pictures with out drawing attention to myself.

I think this Nikkor 50mm is a must have prime lens
Posted by MrSaintLewis on July 29, 2010
Wow . I love this lens for the indoor natural lighting and the depth-of-Field for soft backgrounds. This was my first prime lens I added to my D80 Kit. My AF-S Nikkor 18-135mm ED kit lens is great for outside shooting condition, but can´t handle indoors without a big mount flash. Now remember 50mm is going to ´´shoot´´ more like a 75mm. Pros: Low Cost, Metal lens mount, External Barrel has a hard plastic cap, Aperture Ring, Good for indoor shooting. Cons: No lens hood.

Excellent DX portrait lens
Posted by Chrisfl1 on July 19, 2010
If you own a DX Nikon with a built-in autofocus motor, this is an incredible bargain! It permits you to take most photos indoors without flash and have a little breathing space between you and your subject - a nice portrait lens. Very compact and light, it works great with my D90; the autofocus is quick and accurate. And, with a choice of apertures from f 1.8 to f 22, it offers an incredible range of depth of field choices, something a slow zoom lens cannot match at many times the price.
