    Oustanding lens

Posted by maldasi on July 29, 2010

One of the Nikon´s most sharpest and affordable lens. An outstanding portrait lens, easy to use, much better than any zoom with a great performance in low light conditions.
Buy one. You won´t regret it.

Excellent lens for this money. Sharp, fast and lightweight. But, if shooting with very bright background such is white background you can get blueish glare in the middle of the image. Look for examples on the web.

    Incredible price for Nikon glass

    Posted by Silverafternoon.com on July 29, 2010

I bought this lens because I wanted to get back to basics in my photography. Having a fast prime lens in a short telephoto (on my D300) is how I first learned to shoot 32 years ago. It was more than I expected. This lens is the deal of the decade! It is so fast I can shoot night scenes with existing light. It also has a shallow depth of field for portraits and nature shots. Super small and light weight. It is once again my standard lens... i.e., the one that is on my camera by default.

Having a prime lens forces me to be more creative and selective with framing and composition. I´m just speaking for myself here, but the wide zoom range of modern lenses was making me lazy.

I would highly recommend to anyone wanting a high quality, low priced lens.

    Great Value

Posted by sharpeshooter on July 29, 2010

I use this lens for portraits mostly but last weekend I went to a wedding just happened to have this lens on my camera... I got some amazing pictures, great clarity even from a distance of 20-25ft beyond that quality diminishes. All in all I am very glad I have this lens in my bag.

    must have

Posted by GeorgePhotoSpace on July 29, 2010

IMO you must have it in a bag. Although I´m usually use pro zoom lenses, it´s always with me. In many situations (especially in low light) I mount it and really enjoy. I like its size, light weight, and IQ, of course.

    Amazing lens for the price!

Posted by Yankeetwin on July 29, 2010

I recently sent my lens in for repair, and in order to keep using my D80, I needed a lens. Because of the price, I purchased this one, thinking it would ´´do´´ until I got mine back. This lens will be with me anytime I have my camera with me, and that is quite often. I´m totally pleased with the results I´ve had, and the lens works perfectly and quickly.
Another note: Nikon repaired my other lens fast and got it back to me long before I espected it. Nikon is for me.

    Economic and Reliable glass

Posted by iARCE on July 29, 2010

The 2137 lens is a great product.
I use it on a D60 for portraits with excellent results and to shoot with no flash.
I bought this lens not knowing that it will not AF with the D60 but this is no problem or complication for me.
Metering is accurate with the D60.
I use this lens with my 35mm model N4004S with excellent results as well as this camera has autofocus motor.
Bottom line on a D60 you have to work your pictures in manual mode.
I like this lens and I recommend it.

    Crystal clear pictures, Excellent value

Posted by SDesignsPhoto on July 29, 2010

I bought this lens used, but brand new it is still the best value in lenses on the planet.

Fun to use wide open at f/1.8, and allows a great degree of creativity and allowances in low light and is still reasonably sharp. Stopped down to f/4.0 it is crystal clear for everything from portraits to cityscapes. Plus, it´s lightweight and unobtrusive. I can take street shots that would be intrusive with any other lens. Even allowing for the fact that autofocus does not function on D5000´s or D40´s, I still recommend this lens above all others. I am always telling my students that if I could only have one lens for under $1500, this would be it.

    Great little lens

    Posted by conrad2k on July 29, 2010

This lens is so cheap, you might think it is poor quality. Quite the contrary! It´s a sharp fast little lens. It´s an FX lens so you can use it on both DX and FX bodies. On a DX body it makes a good portrait lens - with the crop factor it is a 75mm lens.
