Incredible Sharpness From This Surprising Lens
Light little fela. Great for the price
Very lightweight and a great travel option of having one lens in between the 35mm and 50mm range.
For my uses doing people photography this has been a great performer on my Z5 and Z50... looking forward to using it on Z30!
I just got this lens as it's always been one of my favorite focal lengths with the perfect speed of f/2 in a lightweight package. I'll take some test shot later and expect it to do reasonably well. My biggest complaint is that the lens mount is plastic like their entry level DSLR kit lenses, not the hardened chrome plated brass used in lenses worthy of the professional moniker "Nikkor". I would have gladly paid a few $$ more for a lens with a metal mount as I don't know if the plastic lugs over time may chip with extended use thus fouling up my camera. I know it's not an S model lens, but what were you thinking Nikon?
Excellent produit, Passe partout. Léger. Très belle image.
Walking around for street photography, I prefer something more discrete than my 24-70 f2.8. This little gem does the trick. I pre-set it to f8 and grab street candids quickly.
I recently took this 40mm lens attached to my Z5 on vacation and was blown away with how light it made the whole kit. I could have my Z5 with this 40mm and small flash around my neck all day long with no fatigue whatsoever. The performance wide open is perfect for portraits, stopped down the corners are plenty good for landscapes, just an easy lens to shoot just about anything. The price to performance is stellar.
Quite a nice little lens. Not perfect, especially wide open, but quite sharp and compact. Being less than half the price of the S line of lenses, it performs at much more than half the output. All in all a nice, fairly sharp little lens. When paired with a full frame camera it still provides a nice field of view while avoiding the distortion you may see at shorter focal lengths.
If I could I would give this lens a 4.5 star review.
