Welcome to the next frontier of extreme-resolution photography. Powered by its Nikon-designed full frame back-side illuminated (BSI) image sensor with no optical low-pass filter, the D850 delivers 45.7 megapixels of pure resolution across a staggering dynamic range and at speeds up to 9 FPS. With remarkable advancements across the board—autofocus, dynamic range, sensitivity, Speedlight control, battery life, shutter and mirror drive mechanisms, Silent Photography in Live-View mode, focus shift capability and more—this is quite possibly the most impressive, well-rounded DSLR yet.

    Didn't meet my expectations

Posted by Jaycee Shepherd on February 19, 2022

I have had my 850 for about four months now, and I am not impressed. I mainly shoot portraits and weddings, and it is not suitable for my style of shooting. At almost every single shoot I have used it, the camera has frozen up on me making it impossible to take pictures, press any buttons, or even power it off. Because of this I have missed lots of shots that are important on wedding days. My clients feel awkward with the long pauses, and I become embarrassed because it makes me look unprofessional with what is supposed to be a professional camera. The live view focusing system produces the best quality images, but it is extremely slow and isn't realistic when shooting portraits. To me, that is unacceptable and I am in the market for a different camera. However, for shots like details, stills, and situations that I can have complete control over, the quality of the images is great and captures great detail. Considering how much money I spent on this camera model, I am disappointed with its performance overall.

I have had Nikon’s since 1982, my D850 bring pictures to life like no other Nikon I have ever owned, that includes the FG, LOLThe screen in the back of the camera with live view is perfect for a chef llike me that want to see the picture before it is taken without using an old school eye piece. SnapBridge could be easier to use, over all you will be thrilled with the colors that this camera brings to life, any food stylist or chef can feel very comfortable with this camera to sell their work. Great job Nikon,!!! this is my 7th Nikon, I still have all the great memories at Yankee stadium with all the Nikon’s I brought as my guest every year since 1982. tNikon has helped me hang on to the best times of my life!!!

D850, If I could give it Zero Stars, I would still think that would be too generous

Posted by jim on December 14, 2021

Worst DSLR, actually the worst Camera, I have ever owned. Has never produced an acceptably sharp image regardless of what Lens, AF mode is used, or what AF Fine Tuning is used(gets worse from an already soft image, even at 1/2000 sec shutter speed. Produces Halos around objects, and around letters. Horrible battery life, less than 300/charge, that is with all wireless off, image preview off, and not looking at the images while card is in the camera. Nikon claims the camera is Perfect, well if perfect is serious image quality drop from my D810, they they are correct. I can't even sell this junk in clear conscience, knowing it is defective. As I said, worst camera I have ever owned

D850 worth every penny no regrets

Best wildlife camera ever. Once I paired it with an en-el18c it came up to 9fps just amazing. I really love this body with Nikon 500mm f/4 PF. Just right to carry for fast birding and lots of other moving critters.I also carry a couple of wide primes to never miss a landscape. Handles like my D500 which makes them the perfect pair. Never a moments trouble and yes these cameras get a lot of use in challenging environments. Lots of wetlands. I a nutshell D850 is worth every penny

    The Perfect Nikon Body

Posted by MICHAEL SMITH on January 2, 2021

If you are a professional or serious armature and care about quality images, the D850 is the perfect body. I purchased this body about 3 years ago, and have not had any regrets. If quality and versality is your desire, I highly recommend this body. I am not a professional photographer, however I have been a fan of Nikon products for some time, starting with the Nikon FE - posted 1/3/21

D850, Still the absolute best DSLR!

Posted by Christopher Farlowe on December 4, 2020

Everything that I wanted to find in a camera....versatility, speed, superb ergonomic design and what's more, it's a Nikon! Need I say more? Ok, I will....I am not a pro, however I studied, I listened and learned, while I scratched & clawed until I could afford this camera and I have no regrets. I did get lucky when I made my purchase, the D850 was on sale and included a free Nikon MB-D18 battery grip. I know that isn't the norm, but I would have saved to get it because of the added performance and usability. This is an outright great camera and still to this day has factors of photography uses that mirrorless systems (as great as these are) are not designed to be used. I look forward to what Nikon innovates, building on what the D850 can and does do, plus Nikon's implementations in the mirrorless systems! Bravo Nikon!

The D850 is the best camera I have owned! Fast. Great in low light environment. Worth the investment. Still getting to know its features but always a fun experience in photography. Kudos and thanks.
