AF-S NIKKOR 24mm f/1.4G ED

Since the out-of-production on 28mm F/1.4 lens few years ago, I have been waiting for this replacement patiently for some time. It just amazingly sharp and fast. This is my baby that I will keep for myself for years to come . Thanks Nikon!!

Love it ! Great crisp fast wide angle. Did not pick up my 70-24 the whole day of shooting. I have put my zooms aside and only use my 200 F2G VRII, 85 1.4 G, 50 1.4 G, and this amazing lens as my shooting lenses.

I have used this lens for more than two years. At 17mm, edge is soft and corner is distorted. I would recommend the 17 to 35 F2.8D or 24 mm F1.4G.

Look, everyone needs to evaluate what their kit will consist of. Are you carrying zooms or primes? If you´re a prime shooter, the 24, 50, 85 are great lenses. Maybe even the 105 micro. However, this lens is as good as it gets for a wide angle prime lens. Sure, there are wider choices, but @ f1.4 you get a pretty darn fast lens. More importantly, on a DX sensor, you´re getting a 35mm...one of the best focal lengths available for every day shooting. Sure, you could get a slower 24 and muck with your ISO settings, but I hate doing that. This is a great lens. Sharp to the edges. Wish it had VR, but no standard or wide angle Nikkors have VR. Not the 24, 35, 50, 60, or 85. So, you get what you can get and with f1.4, you have lots of choices to freeze the action and get some great bokeh.

This is my favorite lens. 24mm is just the focal length that seems to suit me.

Sometimes I want it slightly wider, but then I use the 14-24. For most things though, this smaller, lighter prime is just the ticket. Most of the time it simply amazes me... it´s my workhorse lens!

I´m very keen on getting close to my subjects--this lens lets me get right in there when I want to!

This lens is very sharp and has great bokeh. For low light theater photography, it is unsurpassed with the ability to hand hold at a decent shutter speed and low ISO for best quality. Even on the smaller sensor, it gives a good wide angle so it is useful for all Nikon DSLR cameras. Best for full frame ones though.

I use it for indoor ambient light shooting. Most of the time it is wide open. Super sharp pics, good color. Very well constructed. Auto focus is spot on.

I have a love hate relationship with this lens and it mostly comes down to my skill as a photographer, however make sure that you get a copy of this lens that auto-focuses correctly with your camera bodies. I had to return my first copy because I couldn´t get consistent focus with my D700 or d300s even while using the focus adjust in camera. The shallow depth of field and relatively larger area that the af points cover with this lens makes it a challenge to nail focus at f1.4 but when you do it is worth it. This lens will challenge you as a photographer and provide fantastically sharp and creative images (when they are in focus). This is truly an excellent lens that is incredibly difficult to auto focus or manual focus, I give it a good rating because of this. In comparison my 85 1.4d and 50 1.4g are incredibly easy and accurate to focus.

My favorite lens when shooting conditions are low lighting. Sharp, fast, and lower ISO setting. A great all purpose wide angle lens that stays on my D3 unless another lens is required.
