The Nikon ZR is honestly a fantastic camera — the colors, sharpness, and overall video quality are super duper good. I’m really impressed with how clean and vibrant the footage looks straight out of the camera. The only issue I’ve faced is overheating during long recordings when shooting at 3024×60, 30, or 24 fps. For continuous long takes, the camera tends to heat up and stop. However, if I record below 2160×30, I have zero issues — it runs smoothly without interruptions.Nikon really needs to address this overheating problem in an upcoming firmware update. Once that’s fixed, this camera will be an absolute beast.

The versatility of this camera honestly amazes me, this camera is what you make/want it to be. It can be as simple as a point of shoot or as complex as a film camera. It isn’t perfect, would love things like internal ND filters. But it’s perfect for what I need.

Great value for the money. Is it perfect? No. It is an amazing first attempt for Nikon making an entry level cinema camera! There’s a learning curve even for die hard Nikon users (me of 20 years.) Few external buttons, no “I” button, no ISO button/iris, no mode dial, no dual cards for video plus they come out the bottom vs the side, ibis clunks when the power’s off, everyone says the screen is huge but it’s meh and doesn’t tilt on the back it only swings out and tilts, hdmi only sends 1080 raw not 6k so Ninja V it’s obsolete for external recording, no support for external ssd yet, hoping for the body to be a cube with more ports instead of a mirrorless body without a viewfinder or grip, Z6iii has the same sensor but can shoot R3D files so color grading between the two are inconsistent, and battery like is slightly underwhelming but that was expected. All that aside it’s a workhorse video camera in compact form. I will buy at least one more for a B cam and use my Z6iii in a pinch. (Still wish Nikon would offer a firmware update for Z6iii to shoot R3D if possible so the same gen cameras/sensors would match.) Come on Nikon!!!

I'm in love with the ZR and haven't even scratched the surface of its capabilities. While I’m primarily a stills guy, video requests have rapidly increased in recent years. Usual gear up to this point has been two Z9 bodies with one Small Rig caged. My ZR caged has now replaced the caged Z9. Admittedly, I didn't know much about Red beyond that being the choice of many high-end creators. At some point, I’ll get down into the nitty-gritty of the codec and whatnot. My first Nikon body was the FG in my early 90s film days. Great initial offering!

The ZR is one camera among all my Nikon gear that I love. This camera produced great images, especially when using R3D NE. Nothing out there for the price can match the specs and features of the ZR!

Love this camera. The screen is amazing. Getting used to the buttons and controls were significantly different from other Z camera bodies. The power button is too easy to accidentally bump off and I would like to see a firmware update that requires a confirmation for powering off.

I Love the ZR! Small but solid and I can take it anywhere! I bought it for the video which is fantastic and has so many options! I am a Photographer and want o do more video but I have to say the photo side of this camera is awesome! I never used a screen to take pictures so when I got this for video I was a little worried if I could use it without an EV. I have to say I am more than impressed with the gorgeous 4 inch screen and how easy it is to take photos and videos! I love my Z8 and Z6ii but with the smaller size and weight of the ZR I'll be able to travel around with the ZR without much weight! I love my Nikon stuff and the ZR is another grand slam homerun with the ZR! Thank You Nikon!

I am a amateur video person mainly using it for family and grandkids, I have a z63, a z8, and A z9. I would definitely like suggestions on setup, and settings to shoot grandkids
