    Good but not great - needs big firmware update

    The r3d files are amazing but the data rate is too bloated for today’s skyrocketing costs for storage. We need r3d codecs with smaller data rates like in the Komodo etc. N-raw and h265 won’t cut it. We bought this camera for the r3d files. Furthermore, if you’re going to label the camera as “cinema” then we need focus peaking, false color, RED stoplight exposure control, anamorphic de-squeeze, and open gate. This should be easily fixable with a firmware update.

    This camera is incredible! What I needed, it came out at a good time for me. Was debating to get a Sony camera, but I've been with Nikon for over 10 years. Of course, I wish you can use a SSD drive for memory to shoot with which I think they'll have it soon. Camera is great! You need to really study the camera before using it.

    I'm super excited about this camera! The ability to combine my Nikon FX lenses as well as anamorphics on the market with the RED Code R3D codec is brilliant! I'm so happy for the RED/Nikon partnership! And the form factor in the ZR is perfect for run and gun. Marry this with a RED Komodo X and the package becomes a true production departments dream!

    Loving the camera so far! The lack of buttons is made up with the big screen. I love using anamorphic lenses, so an anamorphic desqueeze feature would make this perfect!

    Love it. Its form factor is perfect. Don’t change it. I love the boxy design. Very sleek and modern. And those who want a massive grip can do so so easily now. I would love anamorphic desqueeze and smaller r3d codecs and I am a happy camper.

    Some quirks but I love it!

    Just bought this camera and have also the Z6 and Z7ii! Love the video options and capabilities! Unfortunately can't take pictures while filming which is very handy but can grab a still from the video if needed. The audio Jake doe get in the way of the tilt screen but I knew that going into it. The BIG screen is awesome, trying to get use to not having the view finder. Its compact size is incredible and look forward to doing a lot of projects with this!
