Nikon Z6 iii. Great Camera - even for older people ?

Posted by Thomas And Gerilynn S. on February 24, 2025

My first mirrorless camera! Overall a very good camera! Excellent photos and Superb videos!! A bit challenging to me at 75 years old to completely understand all the operational modes and settings - but I’m getting there! Only real disappointment is that there is not a dedicated mode for photographing BIRDS! Birds are my true wildlife pursuit! I am truly hoping Nikon is willing to provide a firmware update that includes a fantastic BIRD mode!!!!Again - great camera!Tom Somerville

In addition to my Nikon Z6II, I purchased the Z6III for sports and it hasn't let me down.

    FANTASTIC CAMERA!

Posted by Charles H. on February 24, 2025

Let me start with the fact that I'm not a professional photographer/videographer. I'm merely an amateur that loves taking pictures and I splurged a bit with this one. I am currently using the Nikon Z6III with the 85mm f/1.8 lens which I absolutely love. I have to say, the camera quality is absolutely impressive. I was coming from the Nikon Z5 with a 50mm f/1.8 lens setup and it feels night and day. I can't say too much about video capture with it since I haven't explored that too much nor do I know much about video capture. However, with the little bit that I did do with it, it's been fantastic. I really recommend this one to anyone who's passionate about photography, even if it's just a hobby. With that said, I can see how this would be a very beneficial camera for professionals as well, but don't quote me on that.

    Responsive, Intuitive, Great Added Features!

I stepped up to the Z6III from the Z6II(which is now my backup camera) and felt the low light handling and adjustable brightness and sharpness on the viewfinder, well worth the upgrade.

My Z6 III is the backup to my Z8, but it's also my prime camera for low-light photography, or if I want to cut a bit of weight. Image quality is excellent and the unlimited buffer is great for BIF at times. I do wish there were more options when assigning functions to the lens function buttons. It would also be nice to have the Bird Eye AF option from the Z8, but then maybe it doesn't have the processing power for that. The animal focus is good, but I definitely prefer the Bird Eye focus on the Z8.

Nikon Z6 iii with Nikon Z 28-400 mm lens...perfect for wildlife photography

Posted by MICHAEL O. on February 24, 2025

I am a nature and wildlife photographer and teacher. My "go to" gear has been the Nikon D500 paired with a Nikon prime 500mm lens. After I tore my right rotator cuff, I wanted to be able to get great images without a lot of camera/lens weight. I decided on the Nikon Z6 iii paired with the Nikon Z 28-400 mm lens. By using the Z6 iii in DX mode, I found that I had the reach and clarity needed for my wildlife work. I have found nothing to fault my decision.

    Z6iii is Amazing!

Posted by Dallas D. on February 24, 2025

I am so pleasantly surprised with the Z6iii. I have the Z6ii, so I honestly wondered how different it would be and it is so amazing! Eye focus seems improved, I love the skin softening, the ability to angle my screen in more positions and the pre-capture ability. Even the colors seem even more amazing. I am so happy I made the jump to the Z6iii!

A great camera with some surprising issues.

Posted by Matthew W. on February 24, 2025

I shoot stills 99% of the time. The z6iii is my constant companion. I love it's noise handling at high (up to 4000) iso and ability to shoot in the dark. Small issues: i do notice the loss of dynamic range at low ISO coming from the D750 and z7ii, but a lot of my work is in low light venues, and there it shines. focus still seems to pick out the wrong person in surprising ways. That said I do/would recommend this for general photography.
