I absolutely LOVE this camera! The crispness. The ease! It's a great feeling in my hands.

I bought my first Nikons in 1972 and have been using them ever since. The most recent have been D810 and D850. The Z-7II is the first mirrorless. While most of the controls are familiar there is a bit a learning curve for some of the new controls and menu items. All in all I am happy with the transition to mirrorless. I shoot a lot of micro and am hoping Nikon comes out with a Z 200 macro and extension tubes in the Z mount.

Excellent camera, with impressive resolution, quick and accurate autofocus and ease of operation. Whether using Nikon’s outstanding Z native lenses or the original F mount lenses, the Z7ii functions flawlessly. As a Nikon user for over 50 years, first with film using every camera from the F to the F6, then finally switching to the D850 (which I still use), the Z7ii was a generational change yet the camera remained familiar in the UX and UI experience. For me the decision to change, came down to IBIS and the outstanding photographic properties of the Z lenses. Downsides, the Z7ii is small and light weight. Having come from the Pro level SLR and DSLR experience, weight to me means stability. So my next addition to the Z7ii will be the MB-NZ11 Battery Grip. Things change over time and yet they remain the same.

Among all the Nikon DSLRs I've used were the D600, 610 and 810, all plagued with actuator oil getting on the sensor. I've taken the Z7ii around the block and love the feel and results. While the actuator issue may be in the past, I now fear that just changing lenses may result in a dirty sensor. Removing the lenses exposes the sensor.

I went from the D850, to the Z7ii. The color, and detail on the Z7ii is amazing! I really like the lighter body, and I especially love how quite it is. The 850 has a pretty noisy shutter. Shooting video is so much easier, as I can actually see what I'm shooting now. I am a wildlife photographer, and the only bad thing I can say about the Z7ii is the focus tracking. I've been shooting in AF-C group, like I shot my 850, and that seems to work the very best for fast moving subjects. I'm anxiously waiting the 200-600 lens, as I feel this will be a great wildlife companion to this camera body.

Wonderful IQ, fantastic Z lenses, and great ergos! But why isn't there a way to program a button or two with alternate AF settings? With my D500, I can have two alternate settings on custom-assigned buttons for instant switching. With the Z 7II, I have to access a screen and move some dials; not very handy or fast. The AF performance might be the most common complaint with this model... why not help us make the most of it by being able to make quick changes on the fly?

I was hesitating to go mirrorless, as I've been a DSLR guy since the 70's. I finally took the plunge and I'm loving my Z7ii. The EVF takes a bit of getting used to, as does turning the camera on and having to wait a second or so before you can see anything through the viewfinder. But the advantages of EVF overcome any minor objections. Shooting in crop mode shows the actual image in the viewfinder, no need to rely on lines on a focusing screen. And one touch 100% zoom in in the viewfinder is really helpful for critical focus applications. The Z7ii has the same sensor as my D850, in a much smaller and lighter body which is a big plus for me when travelling. And I really like the U1 U2 and U3 settings much more than the 850's custom setting and shooting bank systems.I miss the lighted buttons of the 850, but all in all I'm just delighted with the Z7ii!

I am so happy I decided to buy the Z7ii. I love the new mirrorless bodies. This camera feels so good to hold. I have tried other camera brands and the ergonomics of Nikon are superior. I shoot primarily landscape and occasional portraits. The dynamic range of this camera is incredible. If you shoot at 64 iso, you can expose for the highlights and then bring up the shadows in post. I find it not necessary to shoot bracked exposures most of the time. The detailed images from the Z7ii sensor are amazing, and I love how much I can crop and still have a very useable image. When shooting people, I use wide area large and just put the red box over the person I want to focus on. It does a really good job of keeping the eyes in focus.

Its taken me just over a month to get to know this camera (even though I had z6 for 2 years) I've been going out weekly to the local bird habitat and trying different focus modes, which I have narrowed down. The camera takes great photos and I love how much I can crop and still have great results. Other than wildlife the megapixles is way more than I need, but when I need them I appreciate having them.My only nit picks are the lack of group focus mode like my D500 has, but I'm learning top work around that.Overall very happy with my camera.
