    Z 5 24-50MM Kit

Posted by L Green on May 31, 2022

I'm not sure how well the Z 5 will work because my kit didn't include the required MH-25a battery charger to charge the battery. Luckily the battery has 57% of its power, but I'm reluctant to use it for anything not essential. (The camera is for our school's Yearbook program.) I've had one email in response informing me I emailed the wrong people (support rather than store) and am waiting for a response to my second email. The Nikon store has been a very frustrating shopping experience for me.

I wanted to get a back up to my Z6, so I selected Z5 and I am very happy with the Z5 performance which is very similar to Z6.

    Z5

Posted by Jamie on May 5, 2022

I picked up a Z5 at the start of the week and absolutely love it. I think it compares very nicely to my D750 (which I love). I have tried it with both the 24-50 kit lens and with my older 35, 50, 60, and 85mm lenses via the adapter and it produces super, clear images. The bokeh is decent but perhaps not as “natural” looking as with the D750, but it’s small issue in the scheme of things. I will probably use this as a street/macro camera. Try one, you will be impressed!

    Great camera with some concern

Great camera. However I would say if Nikon fix evf and lcd noise issue in low light it would be helpful. We would request you to fix in upcoming firmware update.

    Z 5

I wanted to upgrade to mirror less cameras and after looking at many systems and cameras models I decided to get the Nikon Z 5, I wanted to focus on photography capabilities and the full frame. I have been using it for a couple of months and I love it great details, and plenty of megapixels,
    I highly recommend it!!!

    Nikon Z5

Posted by slickscream on December 2, 2021

This is an amazing camera for a photographer. I don't use it for video, so the large crop factor does not affect my rating.

It produces amazing quality whether I am using z-mount or adapted f-mount lenses. The jpeg's it produces are stunning. The battery life is way better than advertised.
All in all I couldn't recommend the Z5 enough, I am very pleased with it.

Good all-round mirrorless Nikon body for still photos and moderate resolution

A great full frame camera at a winning price!

I have owned and enjoyed many fine Nikon cameras. The Z5 is my first step into the "full frame" world and find it to be an outstanding camera. I am an advanced amateur photographer and have been involved in cameras since the late sixties. Have owned D80's, D90, D5500 in the past. Right now I own a D7200, Z50 and the Z5. I also have the FTZ adapter and find that it works nicely with my various lense's. The Z5 is now my main camera that I grab for, it has all the features that I have come to expect from Nikon. The color that it produces really impress' me. The dual card slot is what sold me on the camera. Nikon: If your reading this please make a FTZ with a motor drive for your older lens collection. Keep in mind you can still use the older lens on this camera, you just have to focus it yourself. I am extremely please with this camera and look forward to using it for many years to come. I really love the EVF in the camera, been using DSLR and SLR's for so long I find it works great. Other than no screw drive for olders lens' I have nothing negative so say about this camera.

This is the Mercedes E class of photo gear. Nothing fancy, but solid performer. Value priced.

Z 5 not getting rave reviews by the web pundits but also not getting slammed. I guess it depends on what your expectations are. As along time Nikon owner- First Nikon I owned was an F3 HiEyepoint in 1985. I started digital with a D40, then moved to a D90, then aD700, then a D7200. As I am not a "pro" in that sense I am a fine artist, painter who uses digital in condition with my creative practice. When the opportunity presented itself to "trade up" with the old D40, I went for it.Sold all my MF 4/3 gear and moved to the Z 5. I like the size, the files that come out of the Z5 are great, I idd not find any great learning curve. I like the wireless blue tooth but dislike the cludgey feel and interface for it. The whole trade up and purchase price was through Nikon directly and they were great throughout every step! If reading a manual is not your cup of tea I would recommend David Bush's book on the Z5. It may not have all the bells and whistles of other models but it is a solid piece of gear.
