    Exactly what I wanted

Posted by David R Miller on September 15, 2022

I own three Nikon Z bodies. The latest edition was the Z30. I switched from Olympus to the Z5 because of the eye detection. I mainly photograph people and at the time I couldn't get that with my Olympus. When the Z30 came out, everyone raved about the video abilities. But I am a still photographer, and wanted/needed/desired a small body that could always be with me. I was quite used to using just the LCD for focusing and composing. The added advantage to me was that the Z30 takes the same battery as my Z50 and of course all the same lenses. I love my Z Kit - Z30, Z50 and Z5... I bought this when it first came available directly from Nikon... and I haven't looked back!

    Z30 Great Camera but overheats.

Posted by Randall Brander on August 31, 2022

It does overheat in warm temps. About 45 minutes in recording internally or just for HDMI out it will shut down not off but you have to hit the shutter button to wake it up. Warm to the touch on the bottom of the camera. Everything else is excellent. Reminds me of the Z50 without an EVF but has usb c for charging and keeping the camera going while streaming without much battery loss. As I wrote above it will overheat. Wish their was a warning like the Canon R7 with a temperature gauge.

Overall, it's a great starter camera for stills and video. I'm really happy with my purchase and I'm learning a lot about film making and photography because of this camera!

    Great Addition to the Kit!

Posted by Moose Peterson on August 8, 2022

The Z 30 is a blast while filling an essential hole in my kit. Needing that small body that can do BTS video without having an assistant has been a quest. The Z 30 does it perfectly!

    Good to have Z30

Posted by Satheeshan Karicheri on August 5, 2022

Well,.I am a professional photographer who owns another camera and bought this while thinking it would help me do some video works. But as soon as I bought it, it became my main camera because Its light weight and clear result attracted me to do all kind of works. Also i like that i can shoot in any low light without pixalate with this camera.

    Swiss Army Knief

Posted by Richard Gleason on August 5, 2022

Swiss Army Knife is how I would descibe it Doining a zoom and want to look professional (not like the slackers on your call) Z 30. Out for a hike want a high-quality Vid or Pic Z 30. Driving along and you see an incredible sunset, view or street Z 30. Don't get me wrong I love my Z9 and Z7 but sometimes less can be more. Ever see that guy with 10 grand in photo equipment just taking snapshots? As a pro before Z 30 it was with bring out the big gun or use my iPhone. Rarely can a camera serve the need of a beginner and a pro. Like I said Swiss Army Knief!

    A Perfect Fit

Posted by Gavin Tyte on August 4, 2022

I am a consumer user using my cameras for light semi-professional work - the odd photo shoot, lots of vlogging, recording video for church worship, and personal work.My first Nikon camera was a D5100 with a prime f/1.8 lens and I loved it. However, after using the camera for years, because I wanted a more flexible camera to do long-format filming/vlogging as well as photos, I switched to a Sony A6400, but after a year or so, I just didn't get on with it on multiple levels (awful menu system, uncomfortable to hold in the hand, etc.)I sold the Sony and I recently switched back to Nikon with this Z30. I LOVE IT. The camera is small and light and fits perfectly in the hand. I have it fitted with the classic-look prime 28mm f/2.8 lens and so far the results are nothing short of spectacular. I know the other Z cameras have been around for a while, but for me coming from my old DSLR, the things that stand out are the touch screen, dedicated ISO button next to the shutter release, the stunning low-light capture (was taking night lit photos and video at ISO2800), USB-C charging, and easy to navigate menus. The long recording time sold me over other models as I need to take hour long videos at a time. The one thing that worried me with the Z30 was the lack of a viewfinder. Well, as I wear glasses, a viewfinder is a bit of a pain in the backside, and these days we are so used to using phones and GoPros that, actually, using the LCD screen - which, by the way is stunningly sharp and clear - is absolutely fine.I am so pleased with this camera and it is exactly what I was looking for in terms of video/photo flexibility, ease-of-use, size, and functionality. For me, it's a perfect fit.

    Good compact camera

Posted by Ken Chan on August 4, 2022

Good compact camera with options to change lenses (Z or F). Loving it so far. The battery life is great. The ergonomic design is wonderful – especially the hand grip piece fits me perfectly. Still waiting for the Creator's Accessory Kit and the wind muff.
