Greta Lens and a Great Buy

Posted by Mike Evans on November 3, 2023

I have had the MC 50mm for over a year now and I am extremely pleased with it. I primarily shoot portraits and I find that the images are sharp and the background blur renders very nicely. It is also small and lightweight and fits into my camera bag very nicely. Great buy.

I love this lens. Focusing is pretty straight forward. Focal length can be very short. But I was able to stop down to get a little more length.

Great little lense - crystal clear close up macro photos - good regular lense also

    Light and Fast

One of the best prime lenses you can own. Great for indoor or outdoor use. Perfect for portraits too. I take it with me wherever I go.

    Very nice and versatile lens

Posted by Gilbert Wright on July 12, 2023

I wanted a "nifty fifty" to match with my new Z7ii. Since I have 50mm1.4G in FX, if I need speed I can use that with the FTZ and it's about 1/2 inch longer than this lens. BUT, the Z lens is so comfortable to use and carry. It focuses fast and accurately, is very easy to focus manually and takes beautiful pictures. I chose this one to dabble in macro for the first time. I know an 85 or 105 would be better to get more working distance, but this works excellently. I have really enjoyed the Z7's focus-shift function. Background blur is well rendered. People and pets are nicely done. Overall I don't have a single regret about buying a second lens of the same focal length. Both serve different purposes.

    Beautiful Prime!

This is a lens worthy of the Nikon line. The focus, color rendition, overall performance make it a great lens. It also works as a good Macro lens on my Z7-II for looking at flowers, food, fine print, and circuit boards. It also gets good pictures of lady bugs too :-)

Focusing with a ring flash is difficult to sustain when shooting vertical

Posted by paglioli on October 13, 2022

Lens is amazing. I need some help regarding the use of a Nissin ring flash. It is somehow heavier the the lens motor can handle, so focusing is very difficult to sustain when I have to shoot vertical, facing down. Any suggestion from Nikon?

Pairs Well with Nikon ES-2 Film Digitizing Adapter

Posted by Ken Chan on August 4, 2022

Purchased the Nikkor Z MC 50mm f/2.8 and the Nikon ES-2 Film Digitizing Adapter to digitize a collection of slides. While this pair works with the Nikon Z6 II, the documentation is completely lacking. Had to figure out the correct adapter since the documentation only covered F-mount lenses. Once I had the system set-up, I quickly scanned 5 dozen slides. The Z6 II was much faster and provided a higher resolution image than using a scanner at 2400 dpi.
