    A Jewel of a Macro

Posted by JOEL M. on May 10, 2025

The MC 105 is a jewel. I was quite happy with my old AF-S version, but the Z version is sharper and easier to use. Its light weight makes it easy to hand hold. The combination of the internal VR and my Z8's stabilization produces sharp shots without a tripod. I love the results I'm getting.

    A Macro Masterpiece!

    Posted by Ricky0506 on April 21, 2025

I’ve been using the Nikon NIKKOR Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S for a while now, and I absolutely love it. The sharpness is incredible, especially for macro work—every tiny detail just pops. The bokeh is buttery smooth, and the color rendering is gorgeous. It handles beautifully with my Nikon Z camera, and the autofocus is fast and precise even for close-up shots. The VR (vibration reduction) is a lifesaver when shooting handheld. Whether it’s flowers, insects, or texture shots, this lens delivers stunning results every time. It’s definitely one of my favorite lenses in my kit. Highly recommended for any serious macro photographer!

Potrait and Macro shots in one lens. Great

Posted by David R. on April 10, 2025

Pretty much a legendary Macro by Nikon, great color, no purple fringing or vignette, extremely sharp, little distortion. For macro shooting, it provides 1:1, sharpness and a manual focus switch that is a life saver for macro shots. I switched from film to digital many years ago, but still apprecite the aperture ring on lens to manipulate with my thumb while shooting macro to get the perfect DOF. I have also been fond of the lens for portraits, from the narrow field and bokeh to isolate the subject to the sharpness required it is pretty amazing. No complaints.

    My multipurpose lens

Posted by polizonte on March 10, 2025

I purchased the Z MC 105mm f/2.8 S more for walk around, landscape, and portrait photography more than 1:1 macrophotography. For my purposes the VR feature, extra reach and closer framing than shorter focal length lenses make it a real multipurpose lens. Resolution, contrast, and color are excellent.

    having fun with macro

Posted by karen s. on March 2, 2025

Just starting to play with really close up macro shots. Enjoying this lens and it's capabilities. Macro in general is a bit of a learning curve but this lens is certainly helping me along. I would recommend it.

Pro grade optics at kit lens prices.

Posted by JAMES E. on February 18, 2025

This lens is tack sharp and I appreciate the greater working distance compared to my 60 mm Nikon macro lens. For macro work, I usually focus manually, a slow, deliberate process and the wide aperture insures plenty of light for focusing. This lens also works well as a short telephoto at a length that gives just the right amount of compression to landscapes. It is a bargain offering pro quality at just a little more than a kit lens price.
