Very Special Lens
Posted by Diane M on June 1, 2023
Ever since my new 105mm lens arrived I've been out shooting every single day. It's exciting to capture the macro shots I've always wanted to get. This lens gives me the confidence I needed to be creative again. Photography is just a hobby for this 71 year old, but I'm getting photos that look almost professional.

Excellent lens
Posted by Timothy Barnett-Queen on June 1, 2023
I’m a long time user of the 105mm lens but in D-SLR format. This new Zed lens is excellent. Bright, sharp, lightweight. Couldn’t ask for much more except a lower price.

This lens has been my most important tool in my camera bag. I use it more than any other lens I have and its versatility is off the charts.

Focus shifting problems
Posted by James May on July 21, 2022
Had to send the lens back to Nikon. Seems to have a problem in the focus shifting procedures.Getting halos around cactus and also leaves of plants. My older one was better.

Awesome lens.
Posted by JEFFERY STAHLMAN on April 24, 2022
I owned the F-mount version and sold it as I also own the Nikkor 70-180 micro zoom, which is tack sharp even after 25 years. I bought this Z version as I am going totally mirrorless. This new lens has replaced my 70-180 in my macro bag. Looking forward to pairing it up with Nisi's 77mm close up filter and focusing rail now that spring has arrived in Eastern PA.

Excellent optics, slow focus, beautiful images
Posted by Matthew Hicks on April 19, 2022
This lens is super sharp and allows me enough distance as to not disturb most subjects. The only con I think of is the slow focus speed beyond what is already close to the current focus. Recomposing and focus is not an issue. The focus becomes an issue when first searching for the subject. The lens (camera?) will search through the range before, hopefully, landing on the subject. Using the focus limiter helps a little. Though on one occasion the lens wouldn’t focus at all with the limiter turned on. I had the turn off the camera, remove the lens, reattach, and turn it back on. As scary as that sounds, I’ve had very little issues with this lens. How sharp this lens is cannot be emphasized enough! Love it and I’ve produced some jaw dropping images. The booth is silly, creamy, lovely! Seriously. Love the programmable button. I use it for f-stop down preview to get an idea of my focus range. Love the positive locking hood. The lens is actually pretty tough. My camera fell off my tripod (thought the base plate was locked when it was not). I was lucky that the glass didn’t hit anything, but the barrel chipped at the front. With all that said, the lens soldiered on without issue. That was about 6 months ago. Excellent optics, slow focus, beautiful images.
