NIKKOR Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S

I have been a wide-angle astrophotographer for several years. However, this hobby requires a greta deal of patience with weather and seasons. So, I thought I would explore the completely opposite of pictures of the large universe--and go small, really small. To commemorate my transition, I have attached an image that nicely captures both worlds, as a PARODY. I have not yet used this lens for portraits, but I know from my own experience with the pre-mirrorless version of the 105mm, f 2.8, that I can count on hit to deliver "people Pix."

For over thirty years I enjoyed my Nikkor 105mm F3.5 micro recessed lens. Upon purchasing the Z9 the current version in the Z format was the lens I coveted the most. That was due to its' ability to focus ultra fast and and capture outdoor nature subjects, which proved to be true. I had forgotten what a great head & shoulder portrait lens it is as well, which I rediscovered at a family reunion. Ergonomically the lens balances well with the Z9 body. This is an investment with no regrets.

My new Nikkor Z MC 105mm f2.8 VR S lens is great. It is doing exactly what I was wanting it to do and is a bargain for the money.. I highly recommend this lens to anyone wanting to do some close-up photography.

This lens is fantastic. I was completely shocked at the image quality. It is lightweight and feels like it is built well. I took several flower macro pictures all hand held and they turned out beautiful. I highly recommend this lens.

I recently started macro photography, and absolutely love this lens! I do not have a comparison. I can't wait to use for my portrait sessions as well. I highly recommend this lens for macro photography.

I am really enjoying this lens so far. The image quality is spectacular, and autofocus is pretty good, for the most part. Every now and again it will mis-calculate and do a huge swing from one end of its range to the other, but as long as that doesn't happen during the first kiss at a wedding it's not that big of a deal. For a lens this size, it really doesn't weigh much. My main complaint is only the disconcerting rattling sound from the VR system when the lens is powered off, but something I can certainly learn to live with :-). I've never owned a macro lens with AF, and being able to get close without having to give a second thought, especially when doing detailed work like images for a salon or getting ready scenes at a wedding, has been really transformative in my workflow - no more adding and removing an extension tube in the middle of things or switching lenses constantly when working close.

Great lens for macro photography and I am hoping to have a lot of fun with this…

Wow, the first shots with this lens have not disappointed! This is probably the sharpest Z lens I've used to date. I bought this primarily for portraits but have used it for some macro shots as well and am very impressed with the quality of the photos. Great glass!
