    NIKKOR DX 18-140mm

Posted by John O. on July 1, 2025

I own both the NIKKOR Z DX 18-140mm f/2 5-63 VR and AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm ED VR that I use on my D5600 and D7500 cameras. Both are great lenses with the NIKKOR Z DX 18-140mm f/2 5-63 VR being the lighter and slightly shorter of the two lenses. For most general purpose use I have the NIKKOR Z DX 18-140mm f/2 5-63 VR installed on my D7500.

Perfect walk around and does well with sports

Posted by CHRISTOPHER R. on April 28, 2025

The focal length here is perfect for a walk around lens, but I purchased this one before other zoom lenses for my Zfc due to its total length when fully extended. MLB ballparks have a restrictions on cameras that can enter, with the pertinent part here being if a camera has a detachable lens it cannot be more than 6" in length. Their policies don't explicitly state this applies to the fully extended length, but it does. They will check by asking you to extend the lens. With that in mind, I ordered this lens before a trip to the west coast to see some opening weekend baseball. They had some adult rec league play before we went to the MLB games, and this lens performed very, very well on my Zfc. Much better than I expected. Even from home plate, I was able to capture plays from 2nd and into the shorter outfield after some cropping. This lens obviously won't have enough reach to capture action at the plate from the outfield stands, but it is more than enough from the baselines or behind the dugouts or plate. The only caveat is the netting at MLB ballparks is very difficult to focus around. You'll need to manually focus.

    My New Favorite Lens

Posted by Terryll W. on April 17, 2025

I am very happy with this lens. I have been able to get close-up photos which was a happy surprise. It extends smoothly and the focus is also smooth and works with the peeking feature. I look forward to traveling with it!

Fast auto focus. Light weight. Nice range, almost don't need another lens, which is great for travel and backpacking.

    Ideal for Travel

Posted by Steve Phillips on February 18, 2024

Surprisingly high quality for such a versatile zoom. Perfect for short trips (together with my Z DX 24/1.7). Disappointing to have to buy the hood separately, particularly as few seem to stock them.

    Great overall lens.

Have had this lens for awhile now and really like it on my Zfc. I have the Z8 but enjoy using the Zfc as my casual and travel camera due to its light weight and the versatility of the DX 18-140 lens. It works well for my low light shots as well. I have no regrets in getting this lens and it my go to lens 85% of the time.
