One of, if not the best lens ever produced by Nikon, or perhaps any manufacturer. Super sharp, much lighter and smaller than expected, and improves upon the highly acclaimed f version in every way! Not only that, but Nikon has produced arguably the world’s best lense in the most useful and under appreciated focal length range.

    Nikkor 14-24 mm f2.8 S lens

Posted by Mike Bartow on April 5, 2025

I had the same type of Nikkor for a DSLR but the Z mount S lens is absolutely fabulous. It very sharp and fast on auto focusing. I have been shooting at 1/25 sec handheld and the image stabilization is superb. The other plus is the weight reduction which makes hand holding easier. It is 350gm less than the F mount which makes holding easier. I am so happy to have purchased this lens.

Top lens in my stable of lenses.

My go to lens for all things wide angle. Very sharp and with my Kase filters, this gives me all that I could ever want. I own a lot of Nikon lenses but by far this is my favorite.

    Aurora Lens

Posted by Jacqueline Malak on January 27, 2025

This is my go to glass for Aurora chasing and Astro photography. It is easy to focus and clear with no focus creep even at -30f. I bought the Z9 and had been using the FTZ adapter with a Tamron 15-30mm lens. It was heavy. Now that I changed to this lens it feels much lighter and I’m getting better pictures. Well worth the money.

    Outstanding glass!

I have been consolidating and simplifying my gear lately and this is a replacement for 20mm and 14mm prime lenses. I used it primarily for landscape work and all I can say is this is a great lens! Sharp edge to edge and minimal vignetting. I have yet to do any astro with it, but am optimistic it will be excellent there too!

An absolute beauty of a lens

The Nikon Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S lens was the next lens on my list. I have wanted this lens for a very long time and I am so happy that I made the purchase. This lens is absolutely amazing and exceeds my expectations.

Nikon could help make more filters available for this excellent lens

Posted by Robert Baitty on November 10, 2024

This comment is only about filters for this lens. For landscape photos the possibility of using circular filters is a big plus, and I appreciate Nikon providing this through the HB-97 hood included with the camera along with a more normal hood. It’s also great that the HB-97 hood can be used on a few other S lenses, making it possible to carry fewer filters. Landscape photographers need polarizer and ND filters but finding 112mm filters is a challenge. Nikon offers a thin polarizer (at a breathtaking price) that’s likely as good as their smaller polarizers of which I have many, and no 112mm ND filters. Many other makers of premium filters don’t offer polarizers and ND filters in this size. Normally there’s no need for extra encouragement to filter makers but here there seems to be.

    Super Sharp!

Posted by James Stripe on November 8, 2024

Super Sharp! This was an upgrade for me after using a very good Nikon Z 14-30 f/4 S lens with my Z6 for the past 5 years. The 14-24 is noticeably faster glass and sharp edge to edge. I was pleased that the lens is not as big or heavy as the older F mount version. I like to travel light and this lens helps me achieve it. The two included lens hoods provide for flexibility based upon the types of filters being used. Thank you Nikon for this! I enjoy shooting with a wide angle lens for landscapes and astro. I've attached a long exposure night photo I captured 2 nights ago, bracketed 3 exposures and merged HDR in Capture One.

Simply a spectacular lens whose sharpness, quality and weight far excels that of my like type f mount. Simply blew me away.
