MONARCH 7 10x42

I have several pairs of binoculars in different configurations and use them according to where I'm going and what wildlife I expect to see. The Monarch 7 10x42 is an excellent binocular for birding within a tree canopy in search of small songbirds. The wide FOV (6.7 degrees) is a distinct advantage in tracking small birds that are constantly moving. I'm aware of only one other 10x42 with a wider view, but it is more than twice the price! HD glass and dielectric prisms are features of premium grade binos, but are used in this mid level model as well. The eye relief is adequate and eye cups are comfortable after long use. Small body and close inter-pupillary distance allows for small kids to also use. Focus is smooth, 1.4 turns end to end. Bright, clear and sharp resolution. I don't see any distortion anywhere, but see some minor color fringe on white. I've purchased three of these to give as gifts because they are such a versatile binocular.

Just bought my Monarch 7s 10x42 model. I was torn between these and the Monarch 5s. There is a revised model of the Monarch 5s coming to the USA at the end of 2013, but I wanted bino's for this spring/summer.
I took the standard advice and went with the best I can reasonably afford. I am glad I did that. The Monarch 7s deliver as advertised. Brightest, clearest and largest field of view! I compared these to another brand that cost more than 4 times a much, and couldn't see enough difference to justify the difference.
I can clearly see ships passing by in the channel several miles out and I can see the windows in alight house 17 miles across the bay.. Cant wait for summer and bikini beach!!

I have poor sight and haven't been able to hunt at dusk for years. Now I can. these binoculars compare well with those 4 times more expensive.

Coolest one available in the world......
With this one can easily view the hot scenes throw the windows.
