    Excellent optics

I went to the sporting goods store with the intention of purchasing a pair of vortex diamondbacks 10x42 to replace my Redfield rebel 10x42s. While comparison shopping, I happened to look through the Monarch 5 10x42. The images were sharper with better color transmission. The Monarchs were also more comfortable to use. With the Diamondbacks , it was difficult for me to keep my pupils centered on the lenses and avoiding "blackouts" even when adjusting the interpupillary distance. The Monarch's comfort and superior optics won out for me over the diamondback's larger apparent field.

    Excellent Binocular

Posted by MTHunter on November 20, 2015

The Nikon Monarch 5 10X42 Binocular represents the best binocular on the market in it's class. I have now carried this binocular on a couple of dozen hunts and spent hours behind them with no complaints. Whether I am glassing mule deer in the mid day sun or watching elk at last light they have been sharp and clear. The Monarch 5 is light weight and compact to carry as well as durable and easy to use. The eye relief is more than ample for use with glasses and the focus knob is quick and convenient. The very nice included neck strap and carry case complete the package rendering this the most bang for the buck in a hunting binocular.

Bought the monarch 5 10x42 ATB and love these. The view is crystal clear. I have bought several different kinds and i hard them. They go everywhere with me as i am a birder. been on hikes up mountains, in the canoe, so finally bought a waterproof pair. I looked through them yesterday and said to myself. WOW what a view. I have never said that before with any other bino. I bought a nikon Bino for my first pair and now i am back and a big believer in Nikon. I have had this particular pair for about 5 months now and love them every time i look through them.. Can not recomend them more.

Exceptionally sharp and bright sport optics

Posted by Lifeguard on May 21, 2014

I used two other pairs of binoculars for a number of years but was never happy with the sharpness. I have been a long-time user of Nikon's cameras and lenses and in 2013 I bought a pair of Monarch 5 10x42s. During the shopping process I was careful to compare the brands available at the retail outlets I visited and I did not limit myself to a particular price range or manufacturer. To tell the truth, what I found in the comparison process didn't surprise me. Nikon's offering was noticeably sharper than the other brands shopped. Photographers will be familiar with the term depth of field. In comparing the various brands of binoculars I found Nikon's M5 10x42s to have superior sharpness with depth. Clearly binoculars do not use an iris to control reciprocity or depth of field and I am beyond my depth to explain why these binoculars offer greater optical depth than the others I compared, but I would certainly encourage people shopping for sport optics to examine the products they are interested in with this in mind. In any case I've been using the Monarch 5 for about a year now for birding and general adventuring and I'm very happy with them and would whole-heartedly recommend them to anyone.

    Best bang for the buck....

Posted by Spotter Boy on February 28, 2014

I've been looking to replace a cheap pair of 10 X 52mm binoculars of another brand for quite a while. I researched several brands in the 10 X 42mm size, comparing spec's and prices. Then going out to several retailers and actually looking through them all. I kept coming back to the Nikon Monarch series. My biggest choice was in comparing the Monarch, 3's, 5's, and 7's. I chose the Monarch 5 since I felt it had the best, clearest optics with great color definition, light in weight, compact in size, and ease of use.
For the price the Nikon Monarch 5 binoculars can't be beat, I use them for both hunting and bird watching, and they excel for both activities.
