All buttons are in the right place for this camera. Size of the body . fells perfect to my hand , easy menus and so on .... very happy with it , image quality as expected .Snap bridge transfer copy of pictures to the mobile phone very easy too.
THe D850 has taken my photographic journey into realms I never thought I could achieve.
I am a student at The Art Institute for my BA in Digital Photography. I have used all of the features of the D-850. It produces amazing results. I really enjoy the focus stacking. I also enjoy the bracket shots. On my way back to Peru in July 2018 from northern to southern Peru to include Chile for some travel photography.
As a Nikon owner since the ´90s - my cameras just keep getting better with every purchase! Just when I think they can´t get any better, I´m corrected. In 2010 I was convinced my D3s would be the last camera I would ever need -- then the D810 came along!! Oh my - I was beyond blown away! As an event photographer I was looking forward to the D810´s successor as my 2nd body. When the D850 came out, I couldn´t order it fast enough -- it felt like I had waited ages. :-) I was hoping it would feel and act like my D810 so I would not get confused when shooting an event - and after mimicking the settings I feel like I can go from one to the other without a second thought. Sure, there is probably so much that I am not using on the D850 -- but for my type of photography, whistles and bells are not as important as high quality, tack sharp images -- and the D850 fits the bill, hands down!
D5300 to F5 to D850. I am in awe. This is a beast and it´ll take me a year to learn it all. This is good!
After a very, very long wait, I received ny new D850. After 46 years of Nikon I must say I have met a camera I have to learn´ to respect. There is a slight learning curve to the D850 - nothing too difficult - but one must learn to master the capability of this camera (or get close to it). The build quality is excellent. Carrying around the D850 without the MB-D18 Multi-Power Battery Pack makes it easy/comfortable like any casual camera except it takes fantastic pics......seriously, this D850 produces phenomenal images. Add the MB-D18 and the D850 becomes a beast that does all of the aforementioned but much longer. And, with the battery pack, this camera feels so good in the hand. And that MB-D18 adds nice versatility.
I must say my only complaint, of sorts, is the availability of critical accessories, i.e., the Nikon MH-26aAK Adapter Kit to charge the MB-D18 battery -BACK ORDERED- for a long time!!!!! Got the MB-D18 but can´t use it until that MH-26aAK Adapter is back in stock. Bummer!
Other than that, this is an excellent camera that is capable of remarkable images. Get one and enjoy !
When I started with the Nikon family, I started with a D7000 on to a D750 which is a great camera then a D500 (this one before even rumor of the D850). I have yet to use all the features but I´m totally impressed
with the camera.
As a long time Nikon photographer, from the earliest Nikon Fs to my latest addition of the D850, each model brings something more to the table. My Nikon F and FTNs still work excellently, as do my original Nikkor lenses from the early 1960s! I have had some concern as Nikon started manufacturing and producing outside of Japan, but fortunately, the quality seems to be maintained. The increased resolution of 45.7 megapixels of the D850 along with the tilting touchscreen make it my primary camera across all of my work, I really like working with it along side of my D810, having a fixed length lens on one and a zoom on the other. The D850 focuses a bit faster as well.
The D850 IMO makes it easier to capture the image you ´see in your mind´ as you look at your subject. It is a well designed, highly functional camera.
I am absolutely thrilled with my D850. I have used the focus shift feature extensively. It took some getting used to but now I´m producing gorgeous macros and landscapes that are tack-sharp throughout. I also like the higher burst rate than my D800 because I also I use it for wildlife, particularly birds. The huge raw files are also nice for wildlife because I can crop extensively and maintain image quality. I love the touch screen monitor as well.
