    Totally Impressed

Posted by duffman on June 4, 2018

When I started with the Nikon family, I started with a D7000 on to a D750 which is a great camera then a D500 (this one before even rumor of the D850). I have yet to use all the features but I´m totally impressed
    with the camera.

Excellent progression of the Nikon professional line

Posted by Jwdphotog on June 3, 2018

As a long time Nikon photographer, from the earliest Nikon Fs to my latest addition of the D850, each model brings something more to the table. My Nikon F and FTNs still work excellently, as do my original Nikkor lenses from the early 1960s! I have had some concern as Nikon started manufacturing and producing outside of Japan, but fortunately, the quality seems to be maintained. The increased resolution of 45.7 megapixels of the D850 along with the tilting touchscreen make it my primary camera across all of my work, I really like working with it along side of my D810, having a fixed length lens on one and a zoom on the other. The D850 focuses a bit faster as well.

The D850 IMO makes it easier to capture the image you ´see in your mind´ as you look at your subject. It is a well designed, highly functional camera.

The best camera I have ever owned

Posted by Rodthegood on May 29, 2018

I am absolutely thrilled with my D850. I have used the focus shift feature extensively. It took some getting used to but now I´m producing gorgeous macros and landscapes that are tack-sharp throughout. I also like the higher burst rate than my D800 because I also I use it for wildlife, particularly birds. The huge raw files are also nice for wildlife because I can crop extensively and maintain image quality. I love the touch screen monitor as well.

    Unbelievable

Posted by Photowiz on May 15, 2018

I own the Nikon D850, along with the grip and high performance battery. In the 35 years I have been heavily involved in photography, I have never come across a camera quite like this one. It is mind blowing.

Ergonomically, it is perfectly balanced. With the grip on, it fits perfectly in my hands for either Landscape or Portrait work. Construction is rock solid and high quality. It is everything I would expect from a Nikon.

I love the flip out LED touch screen. This was an excellent addition. It is extremely versatile and has come in handy on many a photo shoot.

What is really incredible is that at 46 MP, the D850 will deliver 9 fps bursts. This covers me on pretty much everything. I am not a sports photographer, but for when I do cover sports or any other special venue, it has plenty of horsepower for my needs. For studio work, there is simply nothing like it at this price range.

One of the more brilliant design features in the camera is the step focus feature that allows you to stack hundreds of images together for the most incredible macro you have ever feasted your eyes on.

Over all, I am also finding I am shooting less images to get the desired results, I am doing less PP work afterwords and my customers marvel at the images they end up getting. And that pretty much is the icing on the cake! The sensor on this camera is a marvel.

If you are doing primarily studio, portrait, landscape, real estate, nature and/or special events, hands down, this camera is for you.

Multi-Media? The video is also out of this world.

I highly recommend this product. You will not regret the purchase. My previous camera was a D800, which I continue to love, but the D850 is head and shoulders better. Well done, Nikon!

    Great Camera, Useless Connectivity

Posted by Riswest on April 13, 2018

This is an excellent camera. I´m still getting used to it, and the feature set and build quality are excellent. But, as an event photographer who has to routinely send images to clients for social media, it is completely useless. The SnapBridge software is totally unusable, making it nearly impossible to connect to the camera. For that reason I´ll be returning this camera and probably just get another D750. Obviously that is an inferior camera to the 850, but at least the wifi works. Why can´t Nikon come up with software that works? It´s baffled me for years. The WMU software that the 750 uses is reasonably good and is reliable. If you don´t need connectivity this camera is for you, otherwise stay away.

    Amazing Camera

Posted by CaymanJim on March 6, 2018

Finally able to buy the D850 at my dealer in Charlotte, they are still hard to get (March 2018). Used it on a car rally today with a 24-70G zoom and 105micro. Came home and downloaded the files to find amazing detail, color and depth without the need to touchup in Lightroom, skin tones are vastly improved over my D810 and D800e. I did not miss one shot; no out of focus, no over/under exposure, just amazing images. The D850 is my new favorite body.
If anyone is hesitating to buy this camera, don´t wait. Go to your local dealer and put your name on thier waiting list.

    Almost 5 Stars

Posted by Warren on March 1, 2018

I shy away from the first generation of any new body. That said, I can´t fault anything about the D850 except ... the lack of two identical media slots and the need to add a grip/battery holder with the new EN-EL 18b battery for 9fps. Hence only 4 stars. Honestly, should be 4.6 stars.

45駨᪦ⱞ and 9 fps make this my go to for most shooting (wildlife). Birds on the wing and some other fast action subjects need the D5 but, I could live reasonably happy with just a couple of D850s. Fast focusing, large buffer, etc. make this a well thought out and executed camera.
