    Amazing Camera

Posted by CaymanJim on March 6, 2018

Finally able to buy the D850 at my dealer in Charlotte, they are still hard to get (March 2018). Used it on a car rally today with a 24-70G zoom and 105micro. Came home and downloaded the files to find amazing detail, color and depth without the need to touchup in Lightroom, skin tones are vastly improved over my D810 and D800e. I did not miss one shot; no out of focus, no over/under exposure, just amazing images. The D850 is my new favorite body.
If anyone is hesitating to buy this camera, don´t wait. Go to your local dealer and put your name on thier waiting list.

    Almost 5 Stars

Posted by Warren on March 1, 2018

I shy away from the first generation of any new body. That said, I can´t fault anything about the D850 except ... the lack of two identical media slots and the need to add a grip/battery holder with the new EN-EL 18b battery for 9fps. Hence only 4 stars. Honestly, should be 4.6 stars.

45駨᪦ⱞ and 9 fps make this my go to for most shooting (wildlife). Birds on the wing and some other fast action subjects need the D5 but, I could live reasonably happy with just a couple of D850s. Fast focusing, large buffer, etc. make this a well thought out and executed camera.

    Nikon´s Best Landscape Camera

Posted by NatureBuff on February 7, 2018

The D850 by far is the Best Camera so far that Nikon has developed! The D850 performs excellently in the field and delivers the sharpest photos for landscape photographers. With the Focus Shift (Focus Stacking) feature built-in the camera, it delivers a beautiful and sharp photo from the foreground to infinity. Another feature I really like is the Focus Peaking. The D850 would also be great on Portraits, Weddings, Macro´s, Wildlife and so many more fields in photography.

The D850 is one of a kind

Posted by Nikon Aficionado on January 20, 2018

This camera is unlike anything I have ever used. The sensor is a technology marvel. I find I a, taking less images to attain more stunning results with very little time spent after on PP workflow.

Stunning image results in the studio and in the field.

    Well done, Nikon, well done.

    Amazing camera but...

Posted by ShawnSS on January 19, 2018

Im really impressed with this camera so far ! After almost 10 years i switched from Canon to Nikon last week ! I mostly shoot at night or in low light condition outside. I have nothing bad to say about image and build quality but ... I couldn´t say the same thing about the menus and lack of simple features like being able to properly save different shooting style (shutter speed, ISO setting, aperture settings) at first i thought i didn´t understand the ´´custom setting banks´´ so i when ahead and read the user´s manual, I even when online to try to understand how to properly save different shooting style !?! but you just can´t do it!! on the internet all i found was people that were complaining against the custom setting banks. every time you switch to a different Custom Settings Bank if you change things in A and then go to B, you´ll now be in whatever settings you had when you left B. there should be an option to save shooting setting ON\OFF for every banks !! that´s why i´m giving it only 3 stars cause it make my work MUCH slower since i can´t switch from different shooting style fast. I want to be able to change from a long exposure setting to a fast shutter speed without having to change the ISO, shutter speed, F-stop.
last thing is the QUAL button, we should be able too disable it from the menus ! working outside in the cold with gloves on you can easily switch (Image Size and File Format) specially at night. Hopefully there will be a firmware update in the near future that would fix those issues.

    Fantastic piece of machinery

    Posted by Acuratl2010.nf on January 11, 2018

Amazing pictures with geat detail.. We recently vacationed in Italy with Venice as a starting point. Took various pictures of canals and the famous Rialto Bridge. Once i reviewed the pictures at home, I was amazed. Blowing up or croping the pictuers at 100%, I was blown away by the great details in the images. You can crop at 100% and print pictures with incredible details. I could clearly see the sand grains in the cement joints between the bricks. If price is of no concern, this camera is hard to beat.

    An amazing camera

Posted by Bruce H on December 18, 2017

I´m very impressed. This camera is a jack of all trades and it does them all extremely well. I have to admit I wasn´t sold on the touch screen for a pro, but boy does it come in handy. The same can be said about the tilt screen! I am used to Nikon Flagship bodies and though this camera ´´technically´´ isn´t classified as a flagship, it for all intense and purposes is...and the body feels fantastic in the hand. Once my grip comes in it´ll be a fantastic pairing with my D4s!

    Beyond Expectation

Posted by Dr Bearwash on November 14, 2017

Arriving just in time for a polar bear shoot and with no time to familiarize myself with it, the D850 exceeded all of my expectations. Crisp clear images with near immediate focus on par with my D500 and D5. The extra pixels were appreciated and will allow me to print my images in near life-size dimensions. The features were intuitive and appreciated. The adjustable view screen came in handy when shooting over the heads of other photographers allowing me to get a better angle on the shot without having to guess what I was actually capturing. The customizable buttons came in handy to keep my cameras simple to use as they are all set up the same. Best of all the despite the size of the files this camera is fast at 9 frames a second with the En El 18b I didn´t miss a thing.
