Just received mine about a week ago, so far fantastic, I came from a D610, so there is a more learning curve. Love the auto ISO, which probably eliminates the need for a built in flash

This is my second d850. I really do like this camera and I know it. I am 81 years young with rheumatoid arthritis . My hands are the worse. The grip fits my deformed hand just perfect. I make great pictures with it!

The D850 is a great camera. I just purchased my second one. I like the large file size and the flexibilty. It is fairly compact and fits my hand well. It is a little heavy but professional gear is not light. The recent price reduction makes this camera even more attractive. The 850 can handle any job and do it well.

What can I say that other people haven't. It's a great camera I had the option to go mirrorless but im old school and been shooting Nikon for well over 40 years and stayed with D850 no regrets. All my F mount lens work beautiful with it. Im looking forward to my next trip to Alaska to photograph wildlife

I bought a Nikon FTb back in the 70s when I was in the military. Used it extensively in my travels throughout Europe and when my family was young. Bought a Nikon D70 when digital became a thing. And now I use the D850 extensively for all sorts of travel and family photography. I love them all!

I bought my first Nikon (FM-2) back in 1980. I just bought my second Nikon (D850) as a birthday gift to myself in order to start enjoying photography again after all these years. I've got lots of studying up to do before I can use it, as I still consider myself a beginner. But I recognize the quality build and feel of my new Nikon, just like before. The D850 obviously does WAY more than my old model did but I look forward to learning more now that I've gotten into the digital age. ;-)

The D-850 is just rock solid, controls are laid out for me great, still learning, as previous, D-200, and GFs D7500. The camera is solid with the 70-200 on it, holding by the lens mount. I am still testing as one of my favorite lenses is in shop for repair. My second favorite lens is great, low light excellent (Nikkor AF-S-70-200G ED-IF), and my new lens (Nikkor AF-S 14-24mm F2.8) won’t be delivered for a few days. Using my GFs older 24-85mm F2.8 lens is very good, but not as crisp as the others mentioned. Pictures are good to excellent with lens using, but expect even better, once others mentioned are available to me. When testing with the lens in shop and manual focus, just rock-solid pictures, again, heavy lens, camera felt solid. This is maybe the best high end camera Nikon has ever made, keep it up Nikon! But I am coming from Z-6-II which had zero low light capability, and was not pleased with that unit. It felt flimsy, and I never could get spot on pictures, using a good quality Z lens. Mirrorless may have more growing to do, opinion.

The Nikon D850 is one of the best cameras ever produced by Nikon. I was looking for the best camera available in April 2026 for both, landscape and studio photography. After researching pros and cons without taking into account price, I concluded that the D850 was the best choice for my needs. First of all, the high resolution at 45 MP. When combined with flash and a tripod, the pictures do not require any additional editing. That was my first experience after learning how to extract the best results after almost a month. The ISO 64 is amazing because you have better colors and grades of shades. I combined the two modes of exposure to take the photos. In live view you can compose and pre-measure light. But then, to take the actual photo, I used viewfinder, which has quicker and better response in my opinion. At the same time, you need that mode to use it with a flash in this model.Photography with an optical viewfinder doesn't have a replacement. It is quicker and is more natural to immerse you in the scene. The size feels perfect and very ergonomic. After taking amazing photos for several minutes, you just enjoy the great camera that you have in your hands. You also can use many of the best lenses produced for the F mount.Lastly, I wanted to acquire this piece of technology, before it is too late and is no longer produced. I wish Nikon engineers could keep updating this DSLR series in parallel to the mirrorless era.
