Not fancy image but just look at the knob with accurate focus 85 mm 1.4 wide open using NX tether 2.5 wireless with wt-7 broadcasting its own wifi , click away wireless tethering placing the focus where ever you want on your laptop ( in my case Mac) and who needs mirrorless, this gem combines the recent up to date technology with phase detect focusing to the older sought after accurate view finder through the lens, not to mention the lovely click of the shutter which is no comparison to the artificial phony click of the mirrorless that is double the price .eye detect is a bonus using live view, but what blows me away is the speed of wireless transfer of raw through wt-7 and NX tether...never seen this speed with any other set up (including my EM1-III mirrorless). cut the cable and invest in this combo and you will never look back ( on a side note I could not get wt-7 to work with NX tether 2.5 on my D850, I hope Nikon if you are listening to give us firmware update to get D850 supported, please....pretty please...!)

The best hybrid.The body of the D850, the AF system of the D5, the Live View of the Z6II, and the soul of the D750; an impressive camera, with an incredible ISO range and an excellent signal-to-noise ratio, Incredible performance in low-light conditions (for live-view). A robust magnesium-alloy chassis, a true masterpiece in the display of settings on both the LCD screen and the viewfinder. Probably the best battery life for a DSLR camera (without a vertical grip), compatible with almost all types of Nikkor lenses (you can save configuration profiles for up to 9 non-CPU lenses! This saved my life). The best menu system: settings are easy to locate, and the customization options are incredible. A genuine 9/10.However, it is a shame that it truly lacks accessories: it does not include the 10-pin remote terminal for compact wireless transmitters (it only supports the WT-7A, which considerably increases the camera's size), it does not offer the option to use a vertical grip, it lacks a studio flash sync port (PC Sync), an interchangeable eyepiece, and a viewfinder shutter, nor does it feature GPS, a joystick/sub-selector, or backlit buttons. Consequently, it is not an ideal choice for professionals looking to make a living in photography, the D850 would be the perfect option for event photography, even in low-light conditions. Because the D780's Viewfinder AF sensors will not perform reliably in low-light unless paired with a fast f/1.4 prime lens, which comes at a considerable cost. So low-light photography must be done with live-view 75% of the time. Nevertheless, this camera is a true hybrid, not just a blend of the D750 and the Z6, but a device that incorporates the very best aspects of numerous other Nikon flagship cameras into a single body.My experience with this camera has been fascinating. Its size is ideal for someone with big hands like me, the buttons are positioned perfectly, and the camera's ergonomics are among the very best. The durability of the body is astonishing, I have taken it to scorching deserts, snowy taigas, arid mountains at altitudes of 3,000 meters, salty beaches, and tropical jungle environments, and this camera has never failed me (at least not mechanically). It is worth noting, however, that both I and many other users have encountered issues with the side rubber grip, which tends to come loose within just a few weeks of acquiring the camera. This isn't necessarily linked to demanding use, it can simply happen if you get unlucky. Nevertheless, it is an easy fix, and it only affects the aesthetics, along with the weather sealing to a minor extent, since that section covers some of the screws on the camera body.

Excellent camera for all types of shooting. I bought mine back in 2021 just before my wife and my anniversary, up grading from a D3200 I got in 2012, which is also an great camera. The only down side I've found is that I don't have the time to go out shooting as much as I would like too, which obviously isn't a fault with the camera. Happy shooting!

This camera deserves a 5 star review. So why do I give it a 4? This camera has Highlight Alerts or overexposure warnings while taking pictures. But you have to press the the play back button and find it to use it. It's live while in video mode, so Nikon why leave out such a useful feature during picture mode? Can this be added by a firmware upgrade or is it mechanically not possible? With all the features built into this DSLR, live mode, face and eye detection, why no live highlight alerts?

Purchased from KEH in excellent condition. The camera took awesome pictures and even used it for astrophotography. Reason for 3 stars is the shutter failed at 10,500 actuations. The camera was never abused or dropped.

I've been using the Nikon D780 for a few weeks now, and it has exceeded my expectations. The image quality is superb, especially in low light, and the autofocus is fast and accurate. I also appreciate the hybrid shooting capabilities – it's the perfect blend of DSLR ergonomics and mirrorless speed. Battery life is excellent, and the dual card slots are a huge plus for professional work. Highly recommended for both enthusiasts and professionals!

Terrific camera, flawlessly manufactured. What a shame that Nikon have abandoned DSLRs just when they had perfected them. Perhaps the market would support continuing with at least a few for those of us who don’t want to go mirrorless. From a lifetime Nikon shooter with thanks.

I have always been a Nikon guy, I bought my first Nikon (FG) back in 1986. A few years ago, I was shooting with a D7500 and various lenses. I was going to make the jump to a Z6 but opted to go with the D780. I did not need 45 MP for the portrait and product work I was doing, plus I wanted to try the hybrid D780.I was told it is essentially a Z6 version 2 when in liveview and an improved D750 in viewfinder mode. This has turned out to be true. I had a collection of lenses, some new, some old, and all of them work flawlessly with the D780. My favorite is the Nikon 105mm, f2 DC (bokeh king); it also works wonderfully with my Nikon 24-70 f/2.8, Nikon 50 mm 1.4 D, and 60 mm Micro. I have some other brand lenses, and it focuses beautifully with all of them.So at Christmas 2024, is this still a worthwhile purchase? Yes, it is; it has long battery life, two card slots, eye/face detection, and is well built. It does not possess some of the features of the latest Mirrorless, but it does, as every Nikon ever produced, provide great color and quality photos. I have not second-guessed my purchase since I bought this camera.

I have been using Nikon Camera's since the 70's starting with a F2. The camera and Nikkor lenses brought out the best photos. I have had a Nikon D70 and D90, but I missed the full frame like the F2. I bought the D780 with the 24-120mm zoom and later added the 80 - 400 mm. This provides great coverage for any subject. I just purchased a 50 mm f1.8 for an all-around Lense. This camera brings me back to the old days backpacking in the Sierras. It's heavy but it makes your shot steadier. I took the Nikon School 3 times in the seventies and the Nikon Digital School in 90's, which taught me how to shoot the different styles of photography.
