    Just works!

Just a Hobbyist, a few hiccups, well see?
1-When i 1st attached my Nikon 180 2.8 mid version an error message occurred has remedied itself?
2- No one seemed to know even Nikon reps, if the Battery isn´t initially drained 1st, then fully recharged the camera will not turn on? No issues since
3- Low light is 15 times better than my D7100 :))
    4-Buffer WOW!
5-Adjusting focus points should be like my 7100 when toggling around , but not a big issue.
    6-Great upgrade from D7100!

Well, I´m not speechless but getting there.

Posted by Camperjoe on June 21, 2018

When the D500 promotion announced that included the battery grip I went to my local National Camera store to pick one up. Only to learn they were already sold out. But I was a call list and a few days later I was home with a new camera and grip.
After picking extra batteries and a XQD memory card I was ready to read up on and watch YT videos on the D500 while batteries were charging.
The high frame rate, fast focusing, the placement of the joystick, the deeper camera grip designed to allow you get a lot more of your fingers around it and an array of focusing points that stretch almost across the entire screen should get you just sitting there saying oh, my, wow. And there is so much more.
A downside to this great camera? My house brand batteries from Best Buy that work just fine in my D7200 drain much faster in the D500. Use only the current version of the EN-EL-15 battery to get the most performance. On my first extended assignment comprised of about 250 shutter clicks over an 8 hour period my primary battery was down from 100% to 65%. Were there not the need to review each photo with client I imagine the battery would have drained less. XQD memory cards are not cheap and when you find a XQD card reader they´re not cheap either. However, because it has dual card slots you can run with just an SD card for starters.
I don´t shoot video so I cannot speak to its video functionality
It is a solid feeling top of the line APS sensor equipped camera with performance and features few could fault. With quality glass mounted to it you will be well pleased with the results.
My D500s, yes I bought another D500 used, seem to like a bit of under exposure dialed in most of the time.

Great Pro Grade Camera - You Can´t Go Wrong

Posted by XPOZUR on June 20, 2018

I shoot mainly wildlife and coupled with my Nikkor 200-500mm this is a wildlife photographer´s dream combination! The photos click off one after another when I´m taking shots of BIF and I never seem to miss a shot. The end product is spectacular and tack sharp, so post-processing is a breeze and I usually just need to adjust for a little exposure and color saturation, but that´s just personal preference, because the shots right out of the D500 are great. The best photography purchase I´ve made so far and I´d definitely buy this camera again! (I may even buy a second one for my backup unit.)

    Perfect camera for bird photographers

Posted by SATXPhoto on June 19, 2018

I also own a D3s but I noticed on trips to Bosque National Wildlife Refuge I would be using a cropped sensor so much that when the D500 came out, I rented one, fell in love with it, so I bought one. It has great focus- tracking capabilities at 11 fps and great low light capability. It was easy to fine tune the focus and the size/weight makes it ´´relatively´´ easy to hand-hold even with a long lens. Highly recommended.

    Best Nikon DX body

Posted by Backyardphotographer on June 18, 2018

I like this camera and use it daily to capture images of wildlife near my house. A big improvement would be to add storage registers for settings for different situations. I would also like to have a remote flash commander feature built in. My D7100 has both these things, but does not focus quite as well as the D500.

    Even Better than Expected

Posted by Bilbo on June 18, 2018

I have a D5600 but wanted the nearly unlimited buffer and faster frame rate of this camera. It exceeds all expectations. Since I got it, I hardly put it down and rarely use the D5600 anymore. It focuses more quickly and better so you can capture shots that you only dreamed of with the D5600. I´m still earning all of the menu settings and options, but thoroughly enjoy what I´ve discovered so far particularly the ability to assign different options to the controls. You can personalize the camera very well. I do agree with others that the battery doesn´t last nearly as long as indicated. I wish more than one company made the XQD memory cards...Lexer stopped.

    D500

    Posted by woody4me on June 18, 2018

Extremely happy with the D500. The accuracy of the autofocus system is excellent with birds in flight.. The low noise and ISO in this camera are awesome. I use the D500 with the Nikon 200-500 for wild life, excellent combination.

Best DSLR I have ever used.

    Posted by Pouncer95 on June 18, 2018

Best ever. FF or Crop. Great images, speed, metering etc. Build quality is fantastic. Ergonomics are great. I guess you can see where I´m going with this. I have never been happier with a camera purchase!
