    Love it!

Posted by JWVirginia on December 1, 2018

I moved up to the D500 from my D7200 (which I still own and love), and (not yet) to the D850, because many reviewers ranked it as ´´one of Nikon´s four legendary cameras.´´ Well, it´s been legendary for me, a hobbyist, as I move from landscapes and portraits into sports and wildlife. There has been a bit of a learning curve regarding settings and techniques for sports and wildlife photography but I´m finally getting the hang of those and am surprising myself with amazingly clear fast-action shots. It more than holds its own with landscapes and portraits -- no slouching there -- but truly excels in the fast-action world. Truly legendary.

Bought to use for wildlife and grand children´s sports. The AF is quick and unbelievable, but soon found that its good for all my shooting, so satisfied I just purchased my second one. Can´t go wrong with this camera. It truly is like a baby D5.

I´ve waited 2 years to be able to get the D500, very impressed

    Posted by Ron717 on November 29, 2018

As the title states I´ve waited for 2 years to get this camera. I´ve been out several times shooting photos, truly happy with the results. Cannot wait til the weather breaks so I can stay out longer. A lot to learn on this camera, especially for a senior citizen.

The D500 has a fast and accurate autofocus.

I upgraded to the D500 from my D7100 for the improved autofocus system and higher burst rate. One of my passions is wildlife photography, particularly taking photos of birds-in-flight. The D500 delivers!

    Impressive

I bought a D5600 over a year ago and was itching to upgrade once I became comfortable. Traded in the camera and got my D500. Very impressed and I love how it feels in my hand. I love the 10 FPS for sure.

    Love this camera!

Posted by SwampGirl on September 26, 2018

I purchased the D500 after having used a D7500 for about one year. Prior to the D7500 I had a D610 and D300. As I´m aging, I thought I would get a lighter-weight camera, but having been accustomed to the 610 and 300 quality, I was not satisfied with the 7500; so, I traded for the 500, and I´ve been much happier with my photos. The 7500 was an excellent camera for landscape and still photography, but it just didn´t meet my needs for the active wildlife photography I do here in the Low Country of South Carolina. I´m extremely happy I made the change even with the added camera weight...it´s now part of my fitness program!

My only complaint about the D500 is that the main camera slot requires an XQD card, which is VERY expensive! So, I´m back to a one-slot-camera until I can afford to purchase the EXPENSIVE card.

    Up to Nikon´s High Standards

Posted by Strodav on September 17, 2018

Strengths: Well built and weather resistant, comfortable in the hand, rear screen tilts out, very fast at 10fps, good low light performance, just about every menu setting you would want in an advanced dslr, dual mem card slots
Weaknesses: DxoMark rates the sensor at 84 where the D7200 is rated at 87, no built in flash, 21mp compared to D7200 24mp, rear tilt screen can´t face forward for self videos.

    The Best

Posted by oxbatz on September 13, 2018

I have used Nikon cameras and lenses since my first camera, a Nikkormat FT I bought used in 1969. The D500 is the best camera Nikon has created in all these years. I use it for nature and wildlife photography with the Nikkor 300mm f4 PF and Nikkor 200-500mm lenses - a perfect match! Thank you, Nikon for a long and distinguished line of products.

    D500

Posted by Vannclan on September 10, 2018

I´ve had a D7000 for years and most of the lenses are for this sensor, so I made the leap to the top model. I will never look back on that decision. The hand feel, control placements, ease of operation and overall joy of use. I´ve pushed it from harsh background to virtual blackout conditions and has yet to fail me yet. Great camera!
