Takes great photos, but glitchy
Posted by Niki on October 4, 2018
I love taking photos with the pre-made settings. I have taken many good photos with the camera. However, I have had to fix problems with the camera at least 3-4 times and I´ve only had it for 9 months. I´ve had to solve issues with the charger, with the syncing mechanism, and general other issues. I have also been unable to ever get the wifi to work. Also, there is no manual mode so I can´t really play with the aperture/ISO/shutter speed like I want to.

Water damage
Posted by bengi on August 29, 2018
I own also the aw100 and I was lucky to have it with me as a backup camera. I bought the W300 because after 6 years of heavy use I thought that the aw100 deserved a rest. Unfortunately this one stopped working while underwater and I can see that water got into te camera. I have quite a lot of experience with underwater tools and the aw100 still a solid performer after 6 years is the proof, not to mention my Nikonos, still working. This said the W300 is a good camera but I have the feeling that Nikon made some modification to the lock, because the number of user with water damage is increased from the aw100-120.

If the W300 is like its predecesor AW120... DO NOT BUY
Posted by Stephane D on July 3, 2018
I pruchased and owned the AW120 since 2014. I used it only a couple of times underwater. The product stopped working this year 2018 and had expericend water condensation damage when it is waterproof. Please buy another product if you consider keeping your camera for more than 4 years. Nikon was nice enough to offer me a bran new model at $389.97떬. (Case#02514808)

Such a disappointment
Posted by AdventureCameraLover on June 23, 2018
I had the Nikon aw100 waterproof camera for six years and have been so happy with the product. Waterproof, easy to use, and excellent, great quality shots. I have literally thirty to forty of my favorite shots hanging around my apartment from all the great adventures- moments that would never be captured with a non-waterproof camera. After years of use led to a reasonable malfunction on the camera, I decided to buy the newer version- the Nikon w300. I was immediately unimpressed with the obvious decrease in product quality. The photos were terrible and the camera was NOT waterproof in shallow waters. It ruined a trip to the Amazon, as I couldnt take any photos, and the photos that were taken did not come out in good quality. Very disappointed and would NOT recommend.

WiFi will not work
Posted by Sortitoutnikon on June 14, 2018
One of the main selling points of this camera for me was that it would connect to my phone and I could download my pictures and videos directly to it as I do not have a computer or laptop as I have been traveling/living abroad for 3 years now. After many attempts at trying to remedy the problem it will not connect to my camera via WiFi. It connects perfectly fine via Bluetooth but none of the features are useable through Bluetooth so it seems like it´s an unnecessary addition to the camera. I am going to return the camera to the shop soon after writing this review.

Own two of ´em....
Posted by Specialized on April 10, 2018
Without question, the most durable (in my daypack/backpack, the rain forest of the PNW, the mountains, the desert, on the bicycle, snowshoeing, etc.) and reliable camera I have ever owned. Just upgraded to the W300... The old one, AW110, is still going strong - just wanted the newer one, too.... :)
These images were taken with the ´´old´´ AW110 - just purchased the W300 today.... :) :) :)
Hey, I´m high maintenance, ok...? :)
And just purchased the D7500 yesterday (the image sensor on my D7200 went south on me with less than a hundred shots on the camera - COSTCO took it back)... -

Poor quality camera and service
Posted by JohnMoe on February 17, 2018
Purchased the W300 as an upgrade from my aw120 which i had enjoyed for many years, so was looking forward to using this new W300 on my vacation. What a mistake!!!!!
When i picked up the camera I charged it as per instructions and then spent getting familiar with some of the new features. All worked quite well and I was impressed by the camera. I was looking forward to using this camera on my vacation.
We arrived at our first destination, a one day layover, and took a couple of pictures using the SnapBridge app., then turned camera off and connected charger. We arrived at our next destination and I noticed the camera had not charged. I tried connecting it to my computer using the Nikon Transfer 2 app and it could not find the camera and the camera did not appear to be recognizing the connection. What a disappointment!
So I contacted support and received a response roughly 48 hours later which did not resolve my issue. I responded with updated details regarding the issue despite the claim of maximum 48 hour response have waited 4 days and still not response or resolution to our problem.
I find not only has the Nikon brand quality and reliability diminished, the customer service appears to be non-existent.. So very disappointed in Nikon and am now considering changing to another brand. -

The most versatile camera available
Posted by Offshore on January 24, 2018
I have owned a Coolpix 300W for 3 years and have never had a problem. I have snorkeled in Hawaii, taken it on long range fishing trips, played in the surf and in swimming pools and it just doesn´t stop provided top notch performance. NOW, I do take care of it. If it provides a warning about waterproofing, I shut it off, open it up and treat the exposed seals with an appropriate coating. I have never had a problem with water integrity. I love the GPS, electronic compass, altimeter, and depth gage! What a great camera it has been. Don´t hesitate to buy this product, it´s a offshore sportsman´s essential!

Failed to work under water!
Posted by Bugeater327 on November 7, 2017
The camera takes very nice photos. Still have to try more different scenes before I can tell if all the scene settings work well.
One huge problem! After a few minutes under water, the camera controls stop working! Only the power button would work!
Due to this I was unable to get photos of several huge Manta Rays in Hawaii! Very frustrating!!! After slightly drying out of water, all the controls work again.
On my first attempt to get it fixed under warranty, Nikon kept telling me to ´´do this or that to fix it´´. Of course nothing worked and they never offered to have me send it in for repairs. Maybe I shouldn´t have bought it in the first week of release...
