A nature photographer´s dream!
Posted by BudS on December 3, 2018
I bought the P900 to replace a D600 in a bag with four changeable lenses. When the P1000 came out I jumped at the chance.
When you are taking pictures of wild animals, they don´t stop and pose while you get the shot. You also can´t sneak up on them and get a close up. But the P1000 solves these problems. You can zoom in close, before the beast has seen you and it is ready to take a shot quickly. My friends are all amazed at my pictures!
The addition of remote control with my phone is wonderful. I can set the camera up looking at a perch that wild life often come and when I see the picture I want in my phone, I tap and the camera gets the shot.
And the camera is ready for family photos and videos too! -

Nikon CoolPix 1000-Surprisingly sharp camera for the price. Optics sensational. Macro capabilities make this camera phenomenal.

I am a professional photographer, started out with Hasselblad cameras back in the 80´s. After using this camera for the first time on a trip to Sedona in Oct 2018, I can tell you that I am very impressed with the optics, color, and ease of handling. Took some pictures at a safari park that are almost as sharp as my Nikon D300S. I was able to take photos of animals in their natural environment from 300 feet away. Also photographed rock formations on this trip. Very much impressed with both sharpness and color. Thanks for a great product!

Great value for the features
Posted by NeoDoc on December 3, 2018
Got this after wanting more from my set-up I used in Peru for birding. Love the super-zoom and lighter weight. Get extra batteries and keep them charged and ready, though. Unless you are a professional, this is a super deal for wildlife viewing. Add a filter kit/tripod or monopod with video ball head and you´re good to go!

Great all purpose camera

Having used the P1000 for a few months now, I continue to be impressed more with each use. First off, the lens range, WOW, nothing else come close to what this lens sees at an extreme distance. Everyone that I show the range and image quality is blown away. The 4k video is amazing. Controls are easy to learn, easy to use. I have a Nikon full frame D600 and several accessory lens, but I hardly use it anymore due to the versatility of the P1000. Yes, the D600 will produce a slightly better image, but for 99 percent of the photos and videos I take there is little practical difference. And the cost of the D600 and several lens far exceeds the price of the ´´do it all´´ P1000. Is the P1000 heavy, well, yes. But add a long lens to the D600 and that equals out. Battery life could be a bit better, averaging about 200-225 shots per charge....buy a spare or two. I also bought the ´´dot-sight´´ that helps when tracking moving objects at great distance. Overall, this has become my ´´go-to´´ camera, and would highly recommend.

Great upgrade from p900!
Posted by Geezer on December 3, 2018
Great bridge camera! Love the zoom and wi-fi features. I upgraded from my p900 and am very happy with it! Have taken some nice pictures and video with it. Not quite the quality of a dslr, but good enough for me, and much handier!;

Greatest Camera ever!
Posted by Photoman1 on December 3, 2018
This camera is what I would call the closest thing to a perfect camera. The positive features are endless. The lens itself is astounding. The ergonomics are astounding. The camera itself looks like the future.

Love this Camera!
Posted by FrogLadyJane on December 3, 2018
I love and have used several of the Nikon CoolPix P series and have loved each one. I now have the latest one, the P1000, and like the rest of them, I love it! I especially love the fact that I don´t have to worry about changing lenses! That´s a big plus in my opion!

This is the one!

As someone who loves cameras and has used pretty much all them, from the Brownie to advanced digital, from Polaroid to medium format, from range finders to 35mm and point and shoot, this one clearly stands out as the camera that can do it all. If you are an outdoor enthusiast, a hiker, birder or just a nature lover, however, there is no better camera to take along with you than this one. It does it all.
The zooming is obviously incredible, but there are so many features that are worth exploring and using on a regular basis, it would be impossible for me name a favorite. It´s like listening to a Beethoven Symphony. It is always the one that you are listening to in the moment, in this case using, that you love the best. Frankly, I postponed reviewing the camera because of all the features, and I have still not mastered every one of them, so I was hesitant to respond to today´s invitation to review, but I´m doing so for the simple reason that I truly do love this camera, and I believe others will too. As dazzling as is the zoom capability, I have to say that I use the close up feature as much or more. It is phenomenal for photographing mushrooms, for example. I´m still trying to master the birding feature. I have had some luck, but I need to practice more. The snap back feature is very useful and this has helped a lot. There is nothing to say bad about the camera. The quality of the photos are awesome and the connectivity of the camera in the field and at home enhance the entire experience. As well, the network feature is awesome in tandem with the remote control.
One issue that might come up while trying to make a decision is the weight of the camera. It´s like a regular camera, not the traditional ´´point and shoot.´´ For me, the weight of the camera, though, is not a problem at all. I use a chest mount to carry the camera, when I´m in the field. Since the carrier puts the weight on the shoulders, you hardly feel it at all, but the camera is right there, ready to use. In the past, I had gone the route with both a film and a digital camera, at one time or another, and with all the accompanying lenses, the weight and space of an outfit like that far exceeds the P1000. Maybe at one time, the lure of changing lenses for something in particular attracted me, but it does so no longer. This camera makes everything possible without much ado. -

Best Nikon yet
Posted by Petarq on December 3, 2018
I got my first Nikon (F 1964) in Yemen. I have had many since then and photographed all over the globe. I got my P1000 a week before leaving for Morocco. It´s size concerned me considering the type of travel. It turned out to be so flexible and adaptable the size factor vanished. The pictures and videos were amazing. The telephoto far exceeded my expectations. It is an amazing accomplishment. The only problem has been the inability to put the new raw format in Apple Photos . The will fix that soon.
