A Marvelous Micro Lens
Posted by cianbl on July 4, 2018
I have had this lens for over a year now, and I have shot many photos of bugs, butterflies, flowers, lizards, and even portraits on my D610. My pics are super sharp and the colors are vibrant and beautiful. The auto focus does a good job and is usually right on target. I am beyond happy with this lens.

Awesome lens!!
Posted by BRWhitmire on June 13, 2018
I´ve only had it for a day, but so far it´s one of the sharpest lenses I´ve ever had. First, I set it up on this begonia, with a medium extension tube. With my D850, I made 24 exposures at f/11 at 4 seconds, and focus stacked them...it will take a little getting used to, but when it was sharp, it was sharp, sharp! Did you know that begonias have little tiny fish scales, SHARP! I had an 85mm PC micro from a couple generations ago, this is about twice as sharp!! I´m looking at my image all put together in Photoshop, at 200% and it still looks great! I´m going to really enjoy having this in my bag!!

If you shoot macro get this lens.
Posted by MLCphotog on March 10, 2018
One of my favorites, great for macro and more. The close minimum focus distance is amazing and gives beautiful close up results, the bokeh is really nice. I´ve printed several photos taken with this lens and they look great. This lens is always in my bag.

A work of art!
Posted by CMPL on November 19, 2017
This lens has everything! It is beautifully designed and crafted and, it produces photographs of extreme quality and detail. I purchased it recently so I am experimenting but the results are amazing so far and I am looking forward to seeing all that it can do. In my opinion, the cost of this lens is in line with it´s quality. I am using it with my D7100.

Very sharp and precize lens for macro
Posted by Mathieu on May 5, 2017
I bought this lens specially for macro as I wanted to buy directly the best lens from Nikon for macro.
The lens focusing is really sharp, the details on a Nikon D5 is really good (it is a prime lens).
I tried it and i am very happy with this.
Becareful, it might depends on your combination but i had some back focusing trouble which appears quite a lot (if you look on review). It is easily corrected within the menu of the camera (for info i had a -2 correction).
Another thing to consider is the DOF : as it is a 105mm so if you want to have a good DOF at the maximum Magnification you have to close the diaph a lot (the diaph is able to close at F/40 max) and be carefull of diffraction and lack of light (i used a nikon SB910)
Overall : a very good and worthy (not to expensive) lens for macro. For other purposes, it is also very good (not the best for portrait but already very good) -

Great Lens, no glitches
Posted by GONikon on March 28, 2017
I have been using this lens for about six months. I couldn´t be happier with it. The focusing at 1:1 is slow, but since I always use manual, that doesn´t matter. It easily focuses on distant subjects and is very quiet. The focus ring is superb, allowing fine focusing and quickly, too. The clarity is excellent, thanks to the nano-crystal and the vibration reduction is very effective. It weighs a good amount; that is my only issue with it. However, the quality of the lens makes up for it. I highly advise this lens for anyone, pro or beginner.

I do quite a bit of Estate jewelry and this lens is perfect! Plus when not on a rail and tripod, the VR is great
