    Still picking myself up

Posted by NikonJunkieGirl on May 11, 2011

I don´t use this lens as often as I use the 24 f/1.4 --but when I put this 85 on my D700 I simply fall over. Then it seems to be the only lens I use for a while, until I go wide again.

It´s that good. Outstanding clarity. Beautiful mood and bokeh. I say mood because this lens also seems to deliver it! AF is rock solid even in low light and low contrast. I was lucky and got one of the first copies of this lens--and it was perfect--no issues with it at all.

I love this lens. I really do--and you will too. It´s expensive, sure, but you get what you pay for. And while all my lenses are sharp -- this one is the king of sharpness.

    Must Have Lens

Posted by MichaelAustin on May 2, 2011

This lens rocks! Super fast with ultra sharp focus and razor thin depth of field, this lens will up your game. You´ll capture details with this lens that others simply can´t deliver. Trust me.. you want this pro glass in your bag.

    Stellar Lenses

Posted by For Fun on April 29, 2011

This is a must have product. This lens produces stellar photos especially regarding creating creaming bokeh and no coma. This is the longest focal length f1.4 in the line up. The only lens that produces better sharpness and bokeh is the 200 f2 (love that lens too!).

The autofocus is accurate at f1.4 every time and never misses (do some research, that is amazing). It is not lighting fast, but accuracy is more important than speed. Once you use this in field you will never go back.

I have this lens on my camera more often than anything else (indoors, outdoors, kids, portraits, and select sports).

    This is a solid winner!

Posted by JerryB on April 14, 2011

My experience with this lens has been most gratifying. It optically out performs all of my other Nikon 85MM f1.4 lenses by a considerable margin. It is a very well constructed lens.

    Excellent portrait lens

Posted by Zoff on April 13, 2011

Maybe I have previous version of 85mm/1.4 (I have it more than 1 year) but this lens makes incredibly sharp snaps. It focuses without any troubles on my D3 model. What a pity all lenses are far not as good. I have excellent portraits with this lens on D3 made on really poor light. You can take it to any theatre or rock concert without any flash and you have more than good chance for excellent exciting snaps.

If you have lot of money and you do not know what to do with it, buy it!

Price use to be a frequent disease of Nikkor lenses...

    New Favorite Lens!

Posted by RockStarJSB on April 13, 2011

This lens has instantly become my new favorite! The bokeh and images it produces are the best I´ve ever been able to produce, and it exudes confidence in my picture taking. I´m very happy with my 85 f/1.4G, and highly recommend it if you want the best.

    Great Lens for portraiture

Posted by NikonShooter on April 13, 2011

The new Nikkor 85mm F1.4G lens is great to work with. I found it to be great in low light situations for short telephoto use as well as in portraiture sessions, with and without the use of flash.

    Highly recommended.

Razor Sharp - Edge to Edge

Posted by Tommy on March 19, 2011

Phenomenal prime lens. The bokeh was creamy and great separation from a subject, as if the picture was in 3D. Excellent in low light situation. A must have for taking portrait. Outstanding piece of glass!

    Best of the Best

Posted by Wedding Pro on March 1, 2011

This Lens is one of Nikons Best. I have no complaints about it at all...period.....well it was expensive. I feel that the portraits I get from this lens are better than anything else I have ever shot with. Its sturdy built, great manual focusing, and industry beating optics are a cut above.

Most people cant tell the difference between this and the 70-200 portraits unless they are looking....but when they are looking they are impressed.
