Love it great glass
Posted by wise on August 13, 2011
I used to own an old Film Minolta camera and lenses and recently purchased the D7000. I decided to buy the body only and buy the best lenses as I intend to move to a D3x when I get more experienced.
So I purchased this lens and the Nikkor 70 -200 mm f/2.8 VRII
Here is a sample picture

My new all-time favorite lens
Posted by Cbrown on August 3, 2011
When I made the switch to Nikon this was first on my list along with a 70-200. This is my new workhorse lens. Dreamed of owning one and have rented a few, now that I own one, I will own it forever. Sweet and sharp right out of the box and have fallen in love all over again. Great lens and would highly recommend it.

best general-purpose lens
Posted by shphotog on July 31, 2011
I´ve been using this lens for a couple years now, and can´t get over how versatile and sharp it is. There was a brief period before I had the 24-70 where I used my old 17-55mm from my D200 on my D700 (*gasp*, I know) for those times when the nifty-fifty or 80-200 wouldn´t cut it, and this lens outshines even the venerable (for a DX lens) 17-55 in terms of clarity and ´feel.´ More Nikon magic, I guess...
Who should buy this lens? *Anybody* with a full-frame Nikon camera. You won´t regret it. -

Great lens but heloicod cam a weak spot
Posted by RSchussel on July 27, 2011
Although I gave the lens an excellent rating be aware that the Helicoid cam fails more often on this lens then it should.I had to return to Nikon for repair. Others have had the same experience.
I use this len on my D90 . Being equivalent to a 35mm to 105mm it is the lens I use most often. I think its major drawback for some is its weight and size. It is not a walk around lens .Optically it is superb and if you can afford it you will never regret the decision. -

It is an excellent lens, however it could have used an aperture ring so that it could be used on older film based cameras.

Excellent Lens
Posted by NikonBump on July 10, 2011
This is the perfect lens for so many situations that it is hard to know where to start. Incredibly fast. Sharp over the whole aperture range. A little lens distortion at 24mm. Keep it level when using it wide. It is really tough. I have had it all over the world and it continues to perform perfectly. Very fast and accurate focus. No lens creep.

Great lens

The images that this lens makes are just simply phenomenal. Well constructed. Built to last. Nikon went cheap on the carrying case though.
