AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8G ED

finally broke down and got a 24-70. id put it off a long time bc i had other midrange zooms. after alot of use, they all broke so i was at a dilema . so i broke down and got it. and now i am honestly regretting that i didnt get it a long time ago. in comparison, i have a 50 1.8, and a 85 1.4, and thus far, all my photos at 2.8 are better than my other at f4. Af speed is almost equal to my 85, but significantly quieter. weight, it is a little heavy, but i am use to carrying a 70-200 also, so it isnt that bad. build quality is awesome. lens feels solid. lens hood is a little tricky to get on and off, but once on, its not going anywhere. overall so far i am extremely pleased with its performance. especially after doing a side by side comparrison with my 50 and 85. if you have the money, just do it, you wont regret.

Other then the price its simple PERFECT!

Big and heavy for a short/mid zoom but this lens is razor sharp. The first images I viewed were astonishing. Built solid with large control barrels. It has the typical smoothness of Nikkor controls. It may seem initally expensive but you only need to buy it once for a lifetime of shooting.

After reading all the great reviews on this lens I finally went for it. Having also the 14~24 I now have what I consider two of the best lens Nikon makes that cover that range, Fixed or otherwise. Since I prefer the wider ranges this lens is a wonderful addition to my bag. Some say the lens is heavy but I do not find it to be and I am very happy with the lens and it performs exceptionally well. It is a jewel.

I was looking for a wide-angle lens and wanted something with flexibility. After reading the reviews I decided to take the plunge. All I can say is what a great lens. Heavy, big, but the results are spectacular. I join those who say this is now their main lens for shooting. Works very well in low light situations. I would have liked to have more of a wide-angle, but this is good enough and works well for many situations. This is a safe buy in my book and a must have.

Having been around the block a few times, I know quality when I use it. This is a great Nikkor Lens and has earned a rightful place my camera bag.
Very Sharp with nice contrast and color rendition, focuses close with ability to resolve details. Not much to say that has not been said before. The lens is excellent optically and mechanically and delivers ´´professional´´ results. I also have the 14-24 which makes for a team of lens that no other manufacture can touch! In the included Photos which have to be down sized considerably; the actual full size photos are stunning.
- If you are in the market for a mid range zoom - this is the one to get!

The 24-70 f 2.8 is a great addition to my 14-24 f2.8 and 70-200mm f2.8 lens. It is very sharp, quiet and just feels robust, like it will last forever!

I was hesitant to review this lens since it is already reviewed so many times. I think the average high marks speaks volumes. I love quality - Maybe that is why I have been a Nikon user for so long. The photos I uploaded do not do the lens justice. I toiled months on this purchase because of the availability of other lens. In the end this lens found it´s way in my bag and will be in my bag for many years to come. I have other Nikon lens for 13 years now and this 24-70 has already earned a ride on every trip I make. It is everything good you have read - sharp, solid and dependable. The lens render images from real life edge to edge sharpness, clear, and color true at all apertures. This is Nikon´s best - sharpest, fastest midrange zoom. Nothing better than coming home to the images this lens captured. Perfect Glass set in a perfect frame.

I love this lens, I primarily shoot horses and dogs and I am in dusty environments a lot. This lens has been solid and has produced high quality, sharp images for me. It´s only one of two I carry in my bag, the other in the Nikkor f/2.8 80mm - 200mm. For the most part, they are all I need. It´s worth the investment.
