    Excellent lens for DX cameras

Posted by Markag on May 18, 2011

I´ve had this lens for nearly 6 months now and I love it. This is a great low light lens. I can take shots indoors without flash very easily. The wide aperature also allows me to blur the background in a very pleasing way. The lens is very sharp. Sharper then the 55-105mm kit lens on the D90. There is slight distortion around the edges of the frame, but that is not a big deal to me. Its not enough to notice unless shooting very rectangular objects. This lens a great lens at a great price. Every DX owner should have this lens.

    Great lens, great price

If you are looking for a good wide aperture lens, but don´t have a lot of money to spend, this lens is a great option. It doesn´t have some of the nice features like VR and ED glass, but for $200, it´s a great way to get a wide aperture lens. The ability to blur the background has really improved a lot of my images already.

    Not Good

Posted by Mr. G on May 15, 2011

Lens is extremely sharp but will not focus on the intended subject. I have tried it on 4 different bodies, D2Hs, D2X, D7000 and D40X. It focuses behind the intended subject on all four bodies. A focus adjustment of on my D7000 is not enough to bring the intended subject into focus.

I sent it to Nikon for warranty service. I hope they fix it and do not try to tell me it´s normal.
