    Great Lens for the money.

Posted by Mark on August 30, 2021

Great all purpose lens, might not be as sharp as some Nikon lenses, but this lens does it all, and is tough enough. Remembering it is 18-200 VR AF Macro focusing for the right price. I found much better to have the right lens on when a photo opportunity occurs, than forced to switch lenses in a moving vehicle or boat!

Eight years later, still a great lens...

Posted by Iceman on November 20, 2019

I first reviewed this lens in May 2012, when I´d used this lens for about a year. I´ve recently delegated my beloved D7100 to backup travel body since going to full frame with a D850. I´ve been archiving and reviewing my shots recently, most taken with this lens. It simply is a workhorse that hasn´t disappointed. The images are respectably sharp with good contrast. The distortion, if any, isn´t really noticeable. Any chromatic aberration is acceptable. The range of the lens is outrageous... I mean 18-200... come on, that´s fantastic! I´ve got a collection of truly great Nikon glass, but this little beast of a lens is certainly a dependable favourite. I´ve compared it to a friend´s 18-300, and it appears a bit sharper. All in all, after 8 years and thousands of images, the lens has proven to be a reliable, great image quality, and fun lens to use. Five stars in 2012... five stars now...

    I Was Amazed

Posted by Fotomate on August 3, 2018

I took my camera to a swim meet and a pre prom party and discovered just how great this lens performed on a D3200. Both pictures are edited to zoom in from 50 feet away.

    Love this lens

I purchased this lens when I purchased my D5200, about 2013, I have been using it ever since, it is a great travel lens, one stop fits most all, sharp lens with and versatile zoom ratios, on the dx cameras, the 200 works out to be about 300 so I have found that I seldom need much more long range ability, I also purchased a 10-24 a wider range lens, and before that the 16-85, which is also a good versatile lens, I highly recommend the 18-200vr ll lens

Very good lens, but not reliable - so much disappointed by Nikon for once

    Posted by Khephren2 on September 12, 2015

I bought a refurbished 18-200 VR II on this Nikon website. It was excellent until the autofocus stopped working for no reason during my travel in Alaska. Because it was refurbished, the warranty was only for 3 months and it´s been 6 months that I bought it. I really like Nikon usually, but I feel so much powerless on this issue. It´s like ´´we are selling you something bad without telling you, this is why we give you only 3 months warranty´´. I am so disappointed by Nikon on this 18-200, it will cost me so much money to get it fixed just because Nikon sold me a weak lens without telling me. And I need to cover a friend´s wedding next week :(

    Excellent lens

Posted by DRod on August 27, 2015

This is my favorite lens, I am considering buying the Nikon 24-120mm because of the nano crystal. I use this lens for almost everything. I took it with me to Costa Rica, I got some amazing images.

Quality of photos taken with this lens are excellent. Also has powerful Zoom. This is an all purpose single lens that reduces the hassle of changing lenses according to the situation.

    Versatility in a Tube

    Posted by Fathernature1959 on April 4, 2015

I bought a D3300 DSLR, and while I found the 18-55mm kit lens to be great in its own respect, I needed to get some glass which would be a bit more versatile for what I typically shoot, which is our beautiful mountains of Northern California. The 18-200mm has a great range of zoom, and will be perfect for vacation shots, and flora/fauna images. I also purchased a 35mm-f1.8 for indoor and low light applications. Between the three lens choices, I pretty much have all my bases covered. Also, the D3300 takes some VERY sharp 24mp images, especially with the 35mm lens.

    Lens creep

    Posted by sparky437 on July 10, 2014

I found a easy solution that has worked for years. I took a 2´´ elastic strip found at a sewing counter and made a band around the lens, just snug enough to allow manual turning, but will not let the lens creep.
Easily removed, but I keep it on all of the time. It is black so it is barely noticeable Good luck.
