    Very Good- Nice video lens

Posted by Bill LMS on July 10, 2024

This lens is incredibly sharp, and actually renders quite nicely as a daily shooter. I find I leave it on my camera as much as possible, even though I do a small amount of macro, and a lot of run and gun photography. The autofocus is noticeably slower than other lenses, which is expected for a macro lens.

As a bonus I have found the VR very helpful for shooting hand-held video- and the minimum focus distance is also a video benefit.

This lens has pretty much entirely replaced my 85 mm 1.8s which is a lens I love.

Great lens, Stays on my camera.

Posted by Chris Zeh on June 25, 2024

This lens continues to be the one that stays on my camera the most. I have the z 50mm f/1.8 s which is also a fantastic lens, but ever since I purchased this one, I just find myself not wanting to take it off my camera. I also have the z 24-70 f/4 s, and the z 40mm f/2, which are also great lenses. This lens though is on another level. It does take a little time to get used to, but it is well worth it. The macro photo quality is amazing. The 105mm focal range is perfect for portraits. Even landscapes and just everyday street photography it really excels. With this lens, you are only limited by your own creativity.

Take a bit of time with this lens for Amazing results!

Posted by Doug Abbott on June 22, 2024

Amazing sharpness, contrast and color rendition!! I'm still learning the lens but very impressed. Focus takes some getting used to but found that limiting the focus and using pinpoint auto focus helps. Also discovered that continuous focus does help for things like flowers that move in the breeze.Takes a bit of work but you'll be rewarded! Looking forward to further exploring the capabilities of this superb lens!

    A unique creativity tool!

Out of over 15 lenses from various brands, without a doubt this is one of the best piece of glass that I used. Incredible image quality both for macro creativity and portrait work. Highly recommend this lens to anyone who is serious about photography.

    Santosh Gorla

Posted by SK Gorla on June 19, 2024

Great lens to connect with the tiny world. Loved it on my first attempt to see the power of the lens. When I captured this image, the characters in the image were so dear to me, inviting me to show them to the world. I eventually had to catch them with my hand to try few different compositions, yet even after I touched them, they were keep coming back to me for more and more action. It seems like they really loved the lens I was using :).

    Capturing Bees

Posted by Kurt Weiss on June 18, 2024

This lens enabled me to get some incredible photos of honey bees on St. John's Wart summer flowers. I used this lens with my Nikon Z9 and was please with the fast focusing and details for each photo. This lens really ups the game from my Nikon F mount 105mm f/2.8 lens. The bee photo below was captured at: Camera: Nikon Z9, ISO5000, f/7.1, 1/10000sec.

    Autofocus is frustrating, otherwise great

Posted by Gary Smith on June 3, 2024

No complaints about the optics and image quality - Nikon lenses are great. It's amazingly lightweight for a lens of its dimensions. I really appreciate not needing to get as close to flowers as was necessary with my previous 40mm macro. What puzzles is me is why I have so much trouble autofocusing. I almost always have to manual focus and even when getting close manually and using the back-button focus, the focus is usually lost. Maybe user error that I need to adjust for.but this is not an issue with the other three lenses I use on my Z7II.

This is a great lens for Macro, Portraits, and Landscapes. The VR on this lens works very well and you can hand hold for macros. This Lens will produce very sharp images. I love It.

Once Again, the Reason to Shoot Nikon

Posted by Gordon Ownby on May 4, 2024

When I bought my AF-S VR Micro 105mm f/2.8 years ago for my D200, I told my photographer friends that this lens was the reason to shoot Nikon. My AF-S Micro 105mm was the last one to sell in converting entirely to the Z system, but once again, this looks like it will be a gem. The image quality and quiet focusing are top-notch, and now that I've changed over, the weight and size factors (considering the AF-S needed the converter on my Z8) are additional reasons to make this lens a must-have.
