    Sharp from edge to edge

Posted by Starshooter on May 20, 2016

I just received this lens a few days ago. In a time-lapsed starscape test, at 16mm the stars are in sharp focus all the way out to the corners of the video. I look forward to many more fine images from this great lens.

    Tack Sharp Wide Angle Lens!

Posted by NikonShawn on January 13, 2016

I took this lens on a recent trip to NYC. I did a lot of reading on this lens and it paid off. I was able to take a lot of great photos indoors and outdoors. All photos were shot with my D800 at F8, ISO 1000, Hand held with no tri or mono pod. For the price of this lens, you can´t beat the quality or the results of your pictures.

    Excellent Lens

    Posted by AuroraNorth91 on August 21, 2015

I have been using this lens for approximately 6 years. The build quality is excellent. Focus speed is fine and images are sharp. Only complaint is considerable barrel distortion at 16mm, but an excellent lens.

    I´m Impressed!

Posted by ProAm on March 24, 2015

I had some reservations about putting out the $$$ for a wide angle lens in this price range. WOW! What a job this lens does. Now I regret waiting so long to buy it. Crisp, clean, and clear photos with no visible distortion.

Extremely Sharp Ultra Wide Angle Zoom Lens

    Posted by Scripps23 on October 6, 2014

This Nikon ultra wide angle zoom lens has exceptional resolution and an excellent focal length range. Its wide breath of focal length is well suited for landscape images without having to change lenses. Attached is a photo of the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, taken at a shutter speed of 1/250, an aperture of f/4.5, an ISO of 100, and a focal length of 16mm, taken with a Nikon D800 camera body.

This is the Wide Angle Lens You Need

Posted by JohnC on April 3, 2014

I would not hesitate to recommend this lens. If you have money to burn, buy the 14-24mm; but if you buy the 16-35mm you won´t be sorry and you´ll save money. I use this lens with a Nikon D800E mainly for scenes in the FX mode. The filter thread on the lens is 77mm, which is the same thread used on many of the best Nikon lenses. You can buy one set of quality filters and use the filters on multiple lenses. This lens is awesome in every aspect. It´s only competition is the 14-24 2.8 which only goes 2mm wider and is about $750 more than the 16-35. Plus 16-35 has a lot more useful focal range. Built solid, ZERO slop in the focus ring. Highly recommended if you´re looking for a pro wide lens.

I really like this lens. I have had it for a couple of months by now, and I am still amazed by how sharp it is. Highly recommend it!

Note to Nikon: I really miss the f-stop ring

    best of class

    Posted by Librarian7 on March 4, 2014

I read all the reviews and commentaries and took the plunge. I was using the D90 with 10-24 Nikkor and decided it was more important to have UWA in that range with my FX D600. The 10-24 is an amazing lens, but so far the 16-35 seems even better. VR actually is very useful (I often need to take advantage of mega depth-of-field) and stopping down to f11ish I can hand-hold at crazy-slow shutter speeds, this is particularly useful when I am shooting at an angle that is not conducive to tripod use. As noted, it is a big lens, but if you want all the bells and whistles of today´s cutting-edge optical tech best start doing some bench presses, ha ha.
