Beware of shadowing
Posted by Nikon D5100 with Nikkor 18-200mm and HB35 Hood on March 1, 2013
Although this hood is made for the Nikkor 18-200mm lens, it produces shadowing in the upper left and right-hand corners when used at 18mm. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I found the hood to stay on quite securely.

GREAT?
Posted by Ethannikon on January 10, 2013
I see lots of complaints that the hood falls off easily. Mine has never fallen off! When you put it on your lens you have to make sure you click it into place! It takes a little force but thats it!!

Poor design

This bayonet has been a problem since I bought the lens. You have to be careful of the vignette it causes at certain focal lengths. It also falls off VERY easily, at the slightest bump. Most times I was lucky to have it fall at my feet, the last time it fell off into a pond and was irretrievable. Unfortunately it is necessary to add an extra level of protection for my favorite lens so I must buy a replacement.

As noted, pretty poor
Posted by HBart on December 31, 2011
Shadows the image at certain focuses, but more importantly it doesn´t attach securely and with only a miniscule strip of thin plastic at the attachment point one bump in a crowd breaks it.
Disappointed. -

Hood shadows the lens when zoomed to 18mm
Posted by Jimbo on February 17, 2011
My complaints
1. The hood does not securely attach to the lens
2. The hood shadows the lens and shows up in the picture when zoomed to 18 mm
I can´t believe that a company like Nikon would put out a product like this. -

Pretty good

Very helpful for keeping lens shaded when shooting toward the sun. MUCH better than those rubber things because those end up showing in the corners of the pictures when zoomed out. This one will never show even when on wide angle. My only complaint is that it is not very secure on the camera--it falls off sometimes. The last time it popped off I didn´t notice until I had hiked a mile or two, so now I´m buying a new one. But if you´re deciding between this and one of those horrible rubber ones, DEFINITELY get this one.
