    16-

after using this camera for about a month I can say it is definitely an upgrade from most that I have used. No it does not have a build in flash, but most people that upgrade to a camera of this caliber generally buy an external flash to use. As well as the Low Light capabilities of this (ISO reaching 36000) is pretty crazy.

    2 HUGE problems with D500

Posted by UsedToLikeNikon on September 23, 2016

2 Huge Problems with the D500:

    1. D500 is not compatible with all EN-EL15 batteries, and Nikon did a terrible job of communicating this issue with customers. Complete FAIL.
    2. D500 is not compatible with most RAW image processing software, including Nikon´s own View NXi and Capture NX2. EPIC FAIL. So if you shoot in RAW NEF, you won´t be able to process those photos. OOOOOOOPS.

20 years of using Nikon cameras and this is how they thank me for it.

    Fantastic AF and High ISO

Posted by Puffin on September 15, 2016

I took a hiatus from photography for eight years and just started again this summer. I bought a new with my prior system, but it just didn´t meet my expectations. I read a review of the D500 and it ticked the right boxes on paper.

I picked up a D500 and made a commitment by selling my old lenses. I love the 10fps for shooting sports. I´ve had good quality shots at 25,600 ISO. The build quality is very good and it pairs well with a MB-D17. The touchscreen is very nice for reviewing images and I love the number of customizable buttons and settings. This camera is very ´´deep´´. You can use it out of the box as is, or spend some time and make it really compatible to your shooting style.

Excellent Camera and then there´s the battery.....

Posted by Beckemd on September 9, 2016

Amazing detail and focus lock. I love shooting sports, wildlife and dabble in astrophotography. This is SUCH a boost from my D7000. When using a 10 stop filter to blur a daylight waterfall, the D500 had NO problems focusing on the target...very impressive indeed. Only downside is the battery. Li-ion 1 means you better have 2-3 extra for an evening. Li-ion 20 and your good with maybe one backup.

Thought I was done with APS-C sensors. Then the D500 happened.

I decided to re-enter the cropped sensor realm and purchase the D500 for wildlife photography. This feature-rich camera body makes me happy. Shooting birds-in-flight at 10 FPS for up to 200 shots means I don´t have to worry about the camera stalling just as the bird is landing or catching its prey. The tilt screen is what I love about my D750, but the D500 is step above since it is a touchscreen, allowing me to select focus and make camera adjustments. Illuminated buttons make this an ideal camera for night and astrophotography. Ideal placement of buttons on topside allow for quick adjustments.

High ISO performance is very impressive. Incredible dynamic range means I can pull out detail on wildlife. Image quality is on par with my D810A and D750.

Only thing missing is built-in GPS for geotagging. Since the camera is designed with wildlife photographers in mind, I´m surprised that feature is absent.

SnapBridge app is a bit of a letdown. Hopefully it will be enhanced to allow for remote settings changes.

    Amazing Quality, Must Read This...

Posted by MajorG on September 2, 2016

This is my 4th and Best Nikon DSLR Camera, DX format!! You should also order/purchase a ´´Lexar Pro 2933X´´ XQD SD card immediately after you order the camera: This is one of several XQD cards that is recommended in the User´s Manual. Finally, if you want to use a Nikon Remote Controller to remotely engage the Shutter, you should carefully read about the accessories that are available with the D500 - the Remote Control for the D7000 and D7100 will not work with the D500. Finally, there are no settings on the D500 for the Remote Control - you will need to order 2 Remote Control accessories to operate the shutter remotely. Otherwise, I cannot say enough about the High Quality of the camera and the photos!!

    Fast, crisp, shoot anywhere

Posted by kibbo on August 29, 2016

I´ve owned the D500 for a couple months now. I took it with me on a cruise around the British Isles and to a couple air shows. This camera is versatile, very, very fast and shoots well in low light. I almost like it better than my D810. If only this was an FX format camera. If the D500 is only a fraction of the capability of the D5, I would like to have one; just can´t justify the cost as a hobby. If you are looking for a high end DX format camera, this is the one for you. It has everything!!!

    Amazing camera

    Posted by TallCraig11 on August 10, 2016

So I´m a novice photographer here just giving my thoughts on this camera. I´m still learning the ins and outs of the settings but from only having it for about a week now I can honestly say my photos have gotten much better because of it. The 10 fps and having the new SQD format card allow me to take great burst shots and I love the quick adjusting focus!
