    desert island lens

If stranded on a desert island with only one lens, this would be a great choice. I use it far more often than my fancy-shmancy lenses.

    Most for your money

Posted by BBRNikon on October 3, 2011

This lens is fast, sharp, and for the cost, of exceptional quality. I have the f/1.4G, but there´s really no detectable difference in image quality until you´re under very low light. If you don´t have a 50mm and need one for general photography or portraiture, it´s easily worth the cost...and then some.

This is an excellent lens to take in a low light situation.

Like this product.....I´m useing it on a D3000 so it don´t auto focus....but, still great for low light shooting and a great travel lens. Very satisfied.

If you don´t already own this lens, you need to go buy it! It´s one of the most affordable. It´s also one of the sharpest. This lens is an F1.8 for a low price. It´s a no-brainer! Excellent in low light. Excellent for portraits. I´ll never part with mine!

    Great Lens!

I originally was going to purchase the 50mm 1.4, but my boss who is a professional photog. told me to save my money to get the 1.8 bc it is just as good, and for .4 of a stop it would save me money and I would love it. I do. I love this lens. It is my go to lens, I keep it on all the time unless I need something else. LOVE this lens. Crisp and awesome for low light. Couldn´t be any happier with it. :)
